Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

Artist: Blackwood Brothers
Project Title: Classics Volume One
Label: Daywind
Producers: Trey Ivey

The Blackwood Brothers are some of the early pioneers of Southern Gospel Music. Of course, none of those original members are with us anymore, but the current lineup of men are carrying on the tradition of this great quartet in an excellent way. The latest effort from the Blackwood Brothers is a collection of ten songs, most of which you will know if you have even had a passing interest in Gospel Music over the past few decades. The project is appropriately titled “Classics Volume One” and that hopefully means that there is a “Volume Two” on the way!

The project begins with one of my all-time top 10 favorite songs! “I’d Rather Have Jesus” is a true classic and I love this song and the message in it. I would rather have Jesus than anything else in this world. The guys do a great job singing the song too. Another truly classic song is next with “He Touched Me.” This Bill Gaither written classic has been a standard in Southern Gospel Music since the 1970’s and it is an amazing remembrance of how powerful the touch of God is in our lives. I have been doing a study on God’s Love lately and have realized once again just how amazing it is. The great Dottie Rambo song, “If That Isn’t Love” paints a beautiful picture of God’s Love and this song always brings me to tears to really consider just how much love God has for me and for you!

Cana's Voice - Self Titled

Artist: Cana's Voice
Project Title: This Changes Everything
Label: StowTown Records
Producers: Unknown

Probably one of the most anticipated projects to come out in a long time is the debut project for Cana’s Voice titled “This Changes Everything.” Cana’s Voice is made up of Jody McBrayer, (formerly of Avalon), Doug Anderson (formerly of Ernie Haase and Signature Sound Quartet) and TaRanda Greene (formerly of the Greenes). All of the group members are outstanding vocalists and their combined voices is an outstanding blend that will be enjoyed by even the most discerning listener.

The project begins with “Heavenly Father” and proclaims our need for our Heavenly Father. We need Him to keep us strong each and every day. The project continues with a song titled “I Give It To You.” This song has a message of giving our problems and trials over to God. We need to give Him each and every part of our life from our heart, to our worship to our difficulties and problems. “Jesus Never Fails” is, of course, a known and true statement. The song is a beautiful ballad that reminds the listener that Jesus does not and cannot fail. The next song on the project is one of those that makes you stop and think. “On Mountains Alone” is the title and the line in the song that says “I’d rather walk with You through valleys than stand on mountains alone” is a great message and I have never heard it put quite that way but I wholeheartedly agree!

Mark Trammell Quartet - Rewind

Artist: Mark Trammell Quartet
Project Title: Rewind
Label: Daywind
Producers: Mark Trammell

The Mark Trammell Quartet is one of my favorite groups that is out there singing today. If any of you remember the early days of this group, the group started as the Mark Trammell Trio. I have four projects from that era and I still enjoy each one of them. The Mark Trammell Quartet’s most recent project is titled “Rewind” and the project goes back and get ten songs from the trio days and they have rerecorded the songs as a quartet. While I have to admit that I do not remember all of the songs, I remember a lot of them and the songs on this project are all great!

The project begins with “Heaven.” Is there ever a better subject for a song that our final Home as a Christian? The song reminds us of that place that Jesus went to prepare for us. The second verse asks that you join us there and I sure pray that I will see each and every one of you there! “Coming Out, Moving In” is the next song on the project and this is another song about that day that we will be coming out of this life and moving into our Heavenly Home. Can you just imagine what that day will be like? One of the great truths of the Bible and being a Christian is the freedom that we find in Christ Jesus. “I Am Free” does a wonderful job of reminding us of the freedom that we find in Christ through Calvary.

Greg Logins and Revival - Live

Artist: Greg Logins and Revival
Project Title: Live
Label: Independent
Producers: Greg Logins

I first met Greg Logins and Revival at a concert that I emceed a little over a year ago. I knew his name from his time with Charles Johnson and the Revivers but was not that familiar with him and did not know about the group at all. I found out that he was based, as I am, in New York State and from the moment that the guys hit the stage that night until they finished their set, I was mesmerized. The group was very good in concert that night and I later learned, from talking to Greg, that they were working on a new project that would be a tribute to Charles Johnson. Well, that project is here and I cannot wait to tell you all about it! The project was recorded live which only adds to the overall enjoyment of this recording.

The project starts off with the upbeat song “Put Your Hand In His Hand.” I have always loved this song that encourages us to put our hand in God’s Hand and let Him lead us through the storms and trials of this life. Greg wrote the next song, titled “God Is Still In Charge” and this song is a wonderful reminder that God is still in charge of my life. He sure is and I thank Him for that every day! Several of the songs on this project were written by Charles Johnson and “Holy City” is one of my favorite songs that He ever wrote. What an amazing picture this song paints of Heaven and what it will be like. “I’m Going To See God’s Face” is the next song on this project and the song reminds us that, as Christians, we will see God’s Face one of these days. I think we all look forward to that day!

Randy Simpson - He's Still Alive

Artist: Randy Simpson
Project Title: He's Still Alive
Label: Plane Jane Records
Producers: Randy Simpson

I could count on one hand the number of true friends that I have in the Southern Gospel Industry. Oh, I have many acquaintances and casual friends that I enjoy I talking with, but true friends are rare. Randy Simpson is one of those true friends. Randy and I have spent considerable time eating at various restaurants across Pennsylvania and New York, I have been to a lot of Randy Simpson concerts over the years and I have spent time in various SUV’s, RV’s and busses (we both have some good stories there) crossing Pennsylvania and other states over the past 15 years or so with Randy and Mark Flanagan. I have been to Randy’s house for dinner and visited with him and his wife, Jane, on numerous occasions. Randy is also a very talented soloist and he has a brand new project out titled “He’s Still Alive.”

The project begins with “I’m Bound For A City” and what a great reminder that we, as Christians, are headed to Heaven! This upbeat song is a great way to remember that! An old Gold City song is next as Randy sings “I Think I’ll Read It Again.” What a wonderful song to remind us of the power and awesomeness of God’s Word. “Walking The Sea” is the next song on this project and it reminds the listener that Jesus will be walking that stormy sea in our lives just like He did in the times of the Bible. I grew up a huge fan of the group Heaven Bound and I love seeing that Randy recorded one of their old songs! The song is “We Are Those Children” and I loved hearing this great old song again!
