Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

Artist: Wilburn and Wilburn
Project Title: Shoulders
Label: Daywind
Producers: Ben Isaacs, Jonathon Wilburn and Jordan Wilburn

As I have mentioned before, the landscape of Southern Gospel Music is changing. While quartets and family groups are still quite prevalent, there are many other groups and soloists that are making their way into the industry and finding quite a bit of success. One of those artists is Wilburn and Wilburn. The father and son team have a project called “Shoulders” and it is a very enjoyable collection of Southern Gospel Music.

The project begins with an upbeat song titled “This Wouldn’t Be The Same Song.” This song is a perfect reminder of how much different our life would be without Jesus in it. I know I would hate to think where I would be without Him. “It’s What He’s Done” is the next song on the project and this beautiful ballad reminds us that “it’s not what we do but it is what He’s done.” What a great message! The tempo picks up with “Love Without End, Amen” and this song reminds us that God’s Love never ends and we can always depend on it.

Amber Nelon Thompson - Just Sing

Producers: Jason Clark

I have been a fan of the Nelons since their inception. Rex Nelon was one of my singing heroes as well as one of the most gracious men that I ever had the honor of meeting. The Nelons have had a long line of tremendous soprano singers over the years. Singers like Janet Paschal, Karen Peck Gooch, Charlotte Ritchie and others have filled that soprano position. Today, that position is held by Amber Nelon Thompson. Amber is the granddaughter of Rex Nelon and the daughter of long-time Nelons alto, Kelly Nelon Clark. Amber has filled this role beautifully over the past few years and she now has a solo project which is guaranteed to bless anyone who listens to it.

The project starts off with a catchy little tune titled “Sing-A-Long.” What a fun song and a great message too! It also features a fairly well-known guest singer named Bill Gaither! The song reminds us to sing a song no matter what is going on in our life we should just sing! I know that advice works for me and I promise by the end of this song you will be singing along too! “He’s Making Me” is the next song on the project and this song has a guest vocalist as well. It is none other than Michael English and I love how this song talks about the way that God is working on each us and making us what we should be! Thank God for that truth! Michael English is back to help out with “Another Place, Another Time.” Amber and Michael’s voices blend beautifully on this song that reminds the listener that there is another place and another time that we all have to look forward to as Christians.

Producers: Lindsay Habedank

Southern Gospel Music has really transformed over the past couple of decades. It was once an industry dominated by male quartets and family groups. However, while we still find male quartets and family groups, the industry also includes a number of trios, duets and an every growing number of soloists. Joseph Habedank is one of the newer soloist in Southern Gospel Music. Joseph is, without a doubt, one of the most talented songwriters in the industry today. However, his latest project does not include a single song that he wrote. It is a hymns project and it is amazing!

The project is titled “Take Time To Be Holy; Hymns For Quiet Reflection.” It is an outstanding project that includes ten classic hymns that many of us have been singing and listening to for years. Joseph begins with “A Mighty Fortress Is Our God” and this Martin Luther classic song has long been a favorite of mine and Joseph’s arrangement and performance is nothing short of amazing. My favorite hymn is next with “It Is Well.” I have loved this hymn, the message of it and the story behind it, since I was a teenager. Joseph is joined by his wife Lindsey on this song and I love the performance and the song! “There Is A Fountain” is the next song on the project and this amazing song has been around since 1772. The message however is completely unchanged and the song and message is every bit as powerful as it was back then.

Artist: Brothers In Grace
Project Title: For All Seasons

Producers: Danny Funderburk

One of my favorite memories from the time I lived in Pennsylvania is all of the people involved in Southern Gospel Music that I had the opportunity to meet and become friends with. One of the groups that I met while living down there was Brothers In Grace. I have reviewed a number of their projects on this website and I always look forward to any new music that they come out with. Their latest effort is titled “For All Seasons” and I honestly believe that this is their best effort to date.

The projects gets off to a rousing start with “I Catch ‘Em, God Cleans ‘Em.” I have always enjoyed this song and the message of being fishers of men! Brothers In Grace does a great job on this song which will become a fast favorite. “The Baptism Of Jesse Taylor” is a song that has been around Southern Gospel Music for several years and Brothers In Grace includes their version next on this project. As classic songs go they probably do not get much more classis than “He Touched Me.” This song has one of the great, timeless messages of the power of God’s Touch. I pray that you have experienced that touch as I have. “Heartbreak Ridge and New Hope Road” is a song I first heard by the Gatlin Brothers but this version is really outstanding.

Artist: Greater Vision
Project Title: 25 Silver Edition

Producers: Dottie Leonard Miller

For most of my life, I have been a huge fan of the Cathedral Quartet. Of course, Glen Payne and George Younce were the mainstays of that group throughout their history but many, many other talented people were also a part of that group. One of my favorite Cathedral alumni is Gerald Wolfe. I remember when Gerald left and started a solo career and then shortly after, he started a group called Greater Vision. That was 25 years ago and I can hardly believe it!

Greater Vision has just released “25: Silver Edition” which is a project celebrating the 25-year milestone for this group. Greater Vision has been a favorite group of mine since they started singing and this project hold a ton of memories for me. The project is a 25 song collection of some of the top Greater Vision songs from the past. Compiled by Gerald Wolfe, the project includes one song from each year that the group has been singing.
