Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

Artist: Karen Peck and New River Project Title: 25th Anniversary Collector's Edition Label: Daywind Producers: Dottie Leonard Miller
Several years ago, when I was in my teens, my parents took me to a Southern Gospel concert that featured a group called the Nelons. Singing with that group that evening was a young soprano singer, not much older than me, who was supremely talented. I enjoyed her singing that night for several more years with the Nelons. That young ladies name was Karen Peck. After Karen got married, and became Karen Peck Gooch, she left the Nelons and started a group called Karen Peck and New River. I can hardly believe that I just recently received the 25th Anniversary Collector’s Edition project from Karen Peck and New River!
Well, we have obviously aged a little but I have completely enjoyed watching and listening to Karen Peck and New River for all of those 25 years. This two CD collection obviously includes several songs from the archives of Karen Pack and New River. However, this collection includes something else that is quite special. The CD have several tracks of interviews from Karen Peck and New River from over the years. Paul Heil, of the Gospel Greats, opens and closes the CD collection and there are a handful of other interview segments sprinkled throughout the recording.
Those of you who know me well, know that I love studying the history of Southern Gospel Music. Knowing that, I am certain that you can imagine my excitement when I open my mailbox to find a project called “The Ultimate Blackwood Brothers Collector’s Edition!” Of course, the Blackwood Brothers are one of the pioneers of Southern Gospel Music and some of my earliest memories are of my mom and dad listening to the Blackwood Brothers.
This “ultimate collector’s edition” is a collection of 80 songs celebrating 80 years of the Blackwood Brothers. The songs are on four discs and represent some of the greatest songs in Southern Gospel Music and some of my favorite songs from my years of growing up. The collection also comes with a great booklet that has numerous photos and stories about the history of the Blackwood Brothers. The booklet is very informative and did a nice job of telling the Blackwood Brothers history and contributions to Southern Gospel Music. The inside of the packing of the CD also includes a timeline history of the Blackwood Brothers.
Artist: Greater Vision Project Title: As We Speak Label: Daywind Producers: Unknown
When this office sees a new Greater Vision project come in the mail, things come to a standstill until we listen to it! Greater Vision has long been a favorite of mine since they first formed. They are one of the most consistent groups in the industry and I have always enjoyed their sound. Their latest project had ten songs on it that are true to the Greater Vision sound and yet are still very fresh, new, anointed and exciting.
The project begins with a catchy song titled "Put Out The Fire." I am sure it surprises no one that Rodney Griffin wrote the song. I love the message of this song that God was the perfect Lamb so we can put out the fire on any other offering that was ever made! "We Can't Tell It All" is next up on this project and this Phil Cross song talks about how there is no way that we can ever tell everything about God or God's Love. The tempo picks up as Greater Vision gets down to some good old fashioned Southern Gospel Music with "Toes In The Water." The message of the song is encouraging the believers to be wading deep in the water for Christ and not just dangling our toes in the water.
Greater Vision is fortunate to have two exceptional writers in their group and Chris Allman wrote the next song titled "He Does." It is a beautiful ballad reminding us that no matter how unworthy we feel, God can forgive us and He understands us no matter how bad we have been. "In The Sandals Of Daniel" is a unique song titled and I admit it had me quite curious. The song asks a great question as to if we could stand in the sandals of Daniel if we were put to the same tests that he was. The next song was written by Lari Goss, Candy Hemphill Christmas and Joel Hemphill. The title of the song is "Let The Blood Of Calvary Speak For Me" and it is an amazing song. I cannot recall ever hearing the song before but it is sure to become a favorite of mine. "Never Will I Ever Again" is one of those tongue twister songs and it is a tremendous song about how there will never be another God and it will likely become a listener favorite.
Artist: Karen Peck and New River Project Title: Pray Now Label: Daywind Producers: Unknown
Karen Pack and New River have been producing quality music for several years. Their latest effort is simply another project of high quality music that is sure to make all of their fans very happy!
The project begins with a lively song titled "Calling." The message is a good one about Jesus calling the sinner to be saved! I love the song and really enjoy the performance from Karen Peck and New River on this one. The title song of the project is next. "Pray Now" is a fantastic song that reminds us to pray no matter what is going on in your life because there is strength in His Name. "Hallelujah For The Cross" is the next song and this upbeat song is a celebration of the Cross of Christ and the souls that have been saved by it. The next song on the project is titled "Love With All Your Heart." The song has a wonderful message of sharing the love in our heart with others.
"I Am Blessed" is next up on the project and this song serves to remind us that we are blessed no matter what or where God is leading us. It is a great message and a beautifully crafted song. The tempo picks up with the upbeat "I'm Not Letting Go." It proclaims that no matter what comes our way we will not let go and we will continue to hold on to Jesus! "I Choose Christ" is a song that proclaims that we will choose Christ even when things around us say to give up. It is a great message in the song.
Artist: Crabb Family Project Title: 20 Platinum Edition Label: Daywind Producers: Philip Morris and Jason Crabb
If you take one of the most popular groups of recent history in Southern Gospel Music, mix in 20 of their top songs and put them all on a single project, well, you have yourself a very good project! The group is the Crabb Family and these 20 songs are some of the most popular songs to come out in Southern Gospel Music over the past 20 years or so.
The project begins with "Still Holdin' On." What a great reminder that we need to keep holding on to Jesus and this proclaims that we are still holding on to Him! One of the Crabb Family classics is next as they sing "Please Forgive Me." I have never been able to hardly believe the feeling and conviction that the Crabb Family sings this song with. What a great prayer set to music and it is one that Christ will answer every single time! One of the early hit songs from the Crabb Family was "Trail Of Tears." I always loved that song and it had been a while since I heard it! "I Sure Miss You" is one of those songs that will touch you time and time again if you have lost a loved one. This song came out right around the time that my dad passed away and continued to comfort as my mom passed away several years later. I still love the song and loved hearing it again on this collection. When I think of the Crabb Family's big songs I always think of "The Lamb, The Lion and The King." A great, upbeat song with a wonderful message!
Probably the best known Crabb Family song is "Through The Fire." It is one of those songs that becomes an instant classic and there are literally hundreds, if not thousands, of people who have been touched by that song. I love the song and it has encouraged me many times. "Don't You Wanna Go" is another of those fast paced songs that the Crabb Family could always burn up a stage with! The beauty of it is that these songs were also lyrically strong. Next on the project is "I've Come To Take You Home." It is a beautiful song with another incredible message, The Crabb Family has always been known for their songs of encouragement and one of the best I ever heard is "That's No Mountain." That song is next and leads us to another song of encouragement with "The Reason That I'm Standing."
