Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. Women of Homecoming Vol 1

Artist: Gaither Homecoming Artists
Project Title: Women Of Homecoming Volume 1
Label: Gaither Music Group
Producers: Bill Gaither

Wow – if I had to describe this new Gaither Gospel series in one word it would have to be “WOW”.  Bill Gaither introduced this event as “Individually these women have strengths and callings as unique as their DNA, yet together they share a common foundation.  They are making our world better for eternity through their stories, their influence, and the powerful gift of music.”  Such a true statement about this group of women.  Several genres of music are represented and when their voices blend together, it creates a beautiful melody and one of excellence.

This DVD starts out with an upbeat song, “Bread Upon The Water” featuring the talents of Amber Nelon Thompson, TaRanda Greene, and Sandi Patty.  What angelic voices reminding us of the faithfulness of God and the powerful message that when we can never “outgive” God.  Natalie Grant and Kim Hopper lend their powerful solo voices on a beautiful song, “Jesus Saves”.  “You Brought Us Out” is a definite toe tapper and features Kelly Bowling, Joy Gardner and Destiny McGuire sharing the message that God is our deliverer.  Evie Karlsson sings her signature song, “Give Them All To Jesus”.  We all need to be reminded that we need to give our cares and concerns to the Lord.  He didn’t promise we would never experience difficulty, but He would give us joy in the journey when we give everything to Jesus.  The Gettys slowed the tempo down with a beautiful, heartfelt song written about their first child entitled “A Mother’s Prayer”.  This is the first opportunity I have had to hear The Gettys – The vocals were pure and the music was definitely ear candy.  Next up is one of my personal favorites, “I Will Fear No Evil” featuring Joyce Martin Sanders.  Joyce knows how to deliver a song and bring you right into that lyric and emotion with her.  This song reinforces that our suffering is not in vain and that our victory is sure.  Amy Grant shared a touching story about her dad and dementia.  The song ”Our Time Is Now” is about how fast time passes us by and the importance of utilizing the time we have.  Cherish every moment you have with family.  “Revive Us Again” is a beautiful hymn sung so sweetly and tenderly by Sonya Isaacs Yeary and Becky Isaacs Bowman.  Hearing this song made me go back to that little bedroom of my childhood where I remember playing a Wendy Bagwell & The Sunliters album (with this song on it) on my little white and orange record player over and over again.  We all need that reviving touch from the Lord.  What a perfect song to segue into Natalie Grant’s powerful song, “Your Great Name”.  This song captivated my attention away from the notes I was taking while preparing this review.  What an awesome vocal talent and what a song of worship and praise, praising our Lord because He is worthy of all our praise, glory and honor.  Though this was sung in the company of 74 other women, it was obvious that Natalie was singing to an audience of One and led each of the ladies into that same atmosphere.

Artist: Devin McGlamery
Project Title: Love Is A Verb
Label: StowTown Records
Producer: Wayne Haun

I first met Devin McGlamery a few weeks after he joined the Dixie Melody Boys when he was seventeen years old.  I could tell even at that time that Devin had a very special and unique talent.  I followed him as he gained confidence with the Dixie Melody Boys and then moved on to Karen Peck and New River and eventually joined Ernie Haase and Signature Sound.  It seems only natural that Devin would do a solo project!  This recording is wonderful.  It not only showcases Devin’s vocal abilities but he also has several of his friends join him for a song here or there which only enhances the enjoyment of this project.

The title song of the project is “Love Is A Verb” and it is the first song on the project!  Devin has the talented trio Beyond The Ashes join him on this song and I love this song as it reminds us that we have to show love!  The song gives the message in a unique way but I love the song and the message.  “Hold On, Help Is On The Way” is the next song on the project and this upbeat song also has an upbeat message of holding on because help is on the way and that help is in the form of Jesus Christ!  Next on the project we find a song titled “In The Depths Of The Sea.”  This is the old Cathedral classic song and I loved hearing Devin sing this great song reminding us that God has buried our sins in the depths of the sea.  Daily and Vincent joins Devin on “From My Rags To His Riches.”  That song was a popular radio release from this project and there is no doubt why!  This song also just recently won a Dove Award!!!  The song has a tremendous message of the changes that God can and will make in every Christian’s life!

Freemans - Voice In The Desert

Artist: Freemans
Project Title: Voice In The Desert
Label: GoldenVine Productions
Producers: Darrell Freeman, Dony McGuire, Michael Sykes

There are many groups in Southern Gospel Music with a long history of success.  One of my favorite groups over the past several years is the Freemans.  The Freemans have had many successful songs over the years and have recorded numerous exceptional projects over the years as well.  For those reasons, I am always very excited to see a project from the Freemans in my mailbox for review!  Their latest project is titled “Voice In The Desert” and this is a very good and very special project from the Freemans.

The title song, “Voice In The Desert” is the first song on the project and I love this upbeat song that challenges us as believers to be that voice in the desert for the unbelievers in our life!  What a tremendous challenge and what an important one as we are surely living in the last days.  I love this song and this message!  “That Kind Of Love” slows down the tempo quite a bit.  The song tells a wonderful story and has perhaps one of the most touching messages in the chorus I have ever heard.  It asks, if Jesus knows me, how can He love and save me.  I have asked that question and I am sure you have too and the answer in that Jesus has that kind of love and we will never be able to understand it!  The next song on the project is titled “Ole Trespasser” and what a great message that in Christ we are a new creature and we have no place for the devil!

“The Last Time I Looked” is another beautiful melody celebrating the sacrifice that Christ made for us and when He made that sacrifice, it was for all time!  The tomb is still empty and the plan of salvation is still free for all!  The next song on the project is “Where I’ve Been” and I am sure many people will be able to relate to this song.  It talks about being in a place of pain and heartache and finding your way back from where you have been.  It is a tremendous message about the change that God can make in a person!  “Water Grave” is another upbeat song and oh my, what a great song!  It reminds us that the old man is dead and how we can bury the man we use to be in a watery grave!  The next song has a unique title in “Unwanted Crown.”  I love the message of this song as it talks of the struggles that a Christian can face in their walk with Christ.  What a tremendous reminder that even if we fall, not to give up because God will see us through!

Inspirations - No Two Ways About It

Artist: Inspirations
Project Title: No Two Ways About It
Label: Crossroads
Producers: Crossroads

This is my first project review, but just the same, I have the honor of writing the review on a group that I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to through the years. Their music is upbeat, with tight harmonies in the upper three voices, and one of the deepest bass singers in the industry, and their music has the right focus:  our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.  If you were hoping to get something else, you will be sorely mistaken.  Just a quick glimpse at the titles will indicate where the focus of this project lies.  You will not be disappointed with this project; in fact, it will be one you will cherish for many years to come, lest the Lord tarry, Amen!

The project begins with an upbeat song focused on the Christian knowing for sure where they will be going to once they leave this temporal world.  The song is titled “Saved, Sealed and Going.” It describes how we all search for truth in this world, but know when we find Jesus who is the Way, the Truth, and the Life, that what that truth brings, assurance of our eternal life with HIM. We are also reminded once we are saved that nothing can separate us from Him and His love for us, hence the Sealed! (Romans 8:39, Hebrews 12:24)

Next on the project is a song that reminds us of one of the great promises that God has made with us that being “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (1 John 1:9) This song is titled “You Can Still Find Forgiveness.” In addition to the forgiveness God promises us if we come to him, we are also reminded in this song, that though we live in a new age, it is still the blood that saves from sin.  This song is an encouragement to all of us, because we do come short of God’s Glory, but when we do, we are reminded that there is a place that we can go and He meets us there, at the foot of the cross.

Ivan Parker Timeless Treasures

Artist: Ivan Parker
Project Title: Timeless Treasures
Label: Crossroads
Producers: Crossroads Music

A couple of days ago I had the honor of seeing and hearing Ivan Parker in concert in Rochester, NY.  Now, I have seen and heard Ivan sing many times.  The first time was when he was with a group called the Singing Americans.  Of course, Ivan went on to become one of the great lead singers in Southern Gospel Music history.  His latest project is titled “Timeless Treasures” and it is a project that has ten very familiar songs that truly are treasures!

The project begins with a song that was a favorite of mine for many years.  The song was recorded by the Imperials originally and Ivan does a wonderful job with “Sail On.”  From there, the project turns to another classic song titled “It Is No Secret.”  I really love this song and the message of what God can do!  “He’s A Personal Savior” is a song that was popular amongst the Southern Gospel Quartets for several years and Ivan does a great job on this this old classic song.

The next song on this project is “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power.”  I have always loved this song too!  What a great reminder that the power in God’s Blood is the same today as it has always been and it will never change!  The upbeat song “I Go To The Rock” is next on the project and Ivan sings this Dottie Rambo song beautifully!  I love the old hymns of the church as well and Ivan has included “Tell Me The Story” on this project.  What a great message about the story that never, ever gets old or tired.  It is the message of Salvation and we should all be sharing it every day!  One of the great messages that we do not hear enough in Gospel Music is how wonderful life with Jesus Christ is!  Yes, life does get “Sweeter As The Days Go By” with Christ and Ivan does a wonderful job conveying the message of the song on this recording.
