Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

One of the new groups that I have been introduced to over the past few weeks is a group called Chronicle!  This mixed trio has an amazing sound that you will quickly fall in love with and the project includes ten wonderful songs.  The project is titled “My God Is Faithful” and it is superb in every way!

The project begins with “The Lamb’s Gonna Leave His Throne.”  The song was written by group member Missy Kinchen and this song reminds us that Jesus Christ will one day leave His throne for just a little while to bring His Children Home!  What a great message and thought and I love the upbeat tempo of the song as well.  The next song is simply titled “Cross” but what a powerful song.  It tells the story of Jesus Christ on the Cross and reminds us what He accomplished for us that day when He died.  “One Drop” is the next song on the project. It was co-written by group members Greg Sullivan and Missy Kinchen and I also love the amazing message of this song!  It reminds us of the power of just one drop of God’s Blood!  It only takes one drop to save a soul from sin!

The tempo picks up once again with a song titled “High Time.”  The song says that it is high time to get on the Lord’s Side!  It sure is and I truly do hope that you have already joined the Lord’s Side!  Missy wrote or co-wrote several of the songs of this project including the next song titled “My God Is Faithful.”  This is a beautiful melody that reminds the listener that no matter what you might be going through or have already gone through or will go through, God is always faithful!  “I’ve Got A Friend” picks up the pace once again and this is a great melody with some wonderful lyrics to match!  It simply states that we do have a friend in a high place and, of course, the friend is Jesus Christ!  I must admit that the next song title made me more than a little curious!  The title of it is “The Caption” and you really need to hear the whole song to understand the message but it is a wonderfully crafted song about forgiveness!

Artist: New Destiny Quartet
Project Title: Walk On
Label: Independent
Producers: Steve Keen

There is no doubt that Southern Gospel Music can trace its roots back to male quartet music.  This style of music was begun by four-part male harmony groups and the male quartets are still very popular today.  There are several male quartets that are traveling and singing today and many of those quartets are quite talented.  The latest project from the New Destiny Quartet is titled “Walk On” and it does a very good job of carrying on the tradition that is male quartet music!

The project begins with an upbeat song that is a great quartet song!  The song is titled “Joy Comes In The Morning” and what a wonderful reminder of the joy that Christ will being after a test in our life!  “Testimony” is the next song on the project and what an awesome song reminding us that while we are going through trials in our life we are simply building our testimony.  The next song on the project is “Anchored In The Rock” and this is a well-known quartet song that the New Destiny Quartet handles very well.

“These Are They” is the next song on the project and this is a very popular Gaither song.  This version is a very good version of that classic song and, of course, the song has a tremendous message in it.  The next song on the project is an old Cathedrals song titled “Tryin’ To Get A Glimpse.”  That was always one of my favorite Cathedral songs and I always love to hear it again!  “It’s Almost Over” is a song that I have loved since it came out a couple of years back.  It is a wonderful reminder that our journey here on this earth is almost over and we will soon be going home! The title song of the project is next and “Walk On” It is another very good song with a great message.

Artist: Melissa Morris
Project Title: Above & Beyond
Label: Homeland Records
Producers: Scott Godsey, Anthony Johnson, Dirk Johnson

I can remember a time in Southern Gospel Music when you almost never heard of a soloist, much less a female soloist!  Thank goodness that the industry has evolved and now includes many talented soloists, both male and female.  One of the recent projects that has been received at the Southern Gospel Music Forum is a project titled “Above & Beyond’ by a talented lady named Melissa Morris.  It is a wonderful project that I know you are going to enjoy as much as I do!

The project starts off with “Down The Road I Go.”  What a great upbeat song that talks about God going with us down the road of life!  An outstanding song and message.  The next song is simply titled “Wonderful.”  A simple title but it is a profound message that Jesus Christ can and will make our lives wonderful!  That is right!  Being saved is a wonderful thing and this song proclaims that message very well!  “Lord It’s Me” is the next song on the project and what a beautiful message in this song about the struggles of our life and how God can help us through them.  I love the line that says “Lord it’s me one more time.  Getting down on my knee, hoping You would hear my plea.  And let me feel, Your love divine.  Flowing down over me with the comfort that I need.  All I am and ever hope to be.  Lord, it’s me!”  A beautiful message and wonderful delivery from Melissa.

Project Never Alone

If there is one thing that I love more than finding a brand new, talented artist, it is finding one in my own back yard!  I recently had a meeting with some concert promoters and they introduced me to a very talented group from Rochester, NY!  Now, there are many Southern Gospel Artists in New York State but Final Harvest is one of those artists and they are fantastic!  The latest project from Final Harvest is “Never Alone” and it is a very good project that you will be enjoying for many years to come.

The project begins with a beautiful slow and melodic song titled “In The Presence Of Jehovah.”  This song was written back in the mid-1980’s and what a beautiful song and reminder how God can and will speak to us when we are in His presence!  Next on the project is a great, old song titled “He Whispers Sweet Peace.”  I always love to hear songs that remind of the sweet peace that Jesus gives us.  “He Still Speaks” is the next amazing song on this project.  This beautiful song reminds us that God speaks to us no matter what we are going through in life.

Artist: The Millers
Project Title: Joy
Label: Independent
Producers: Joey Wilson, The Vocal Den

I have always been amazed at the amount of talent we can find in the ranks of Southern Gospel Music.  I get multiple CD’s for review each week and many of them are from artists that I have never heard of!  It has been my pleasure to meet and get to know a member of the Millers and I have really enjoyed hearing their latest recording.

The project begins with an upbeat song that has been a favorite of mine since I first heard it!  It is titled “Joy’s Gonna Come In The Morning.”  I love this great song at it reminds us that after a trial comes our way, joy will come in the morning!  The project continues with “Red Letter Day.”  I love the message in this song that reminds us that if we live for Jesus all of our days can be red letter days!  The next song on the project is an old song that is one of my favorites.  The song is titled “Ten Thousand Years.”  This reminded me of my mom as it was one of her favorite songs as well and I absolutely love the harmony on this song from the Millers.  The pace picks up again as the Millers sing “Nothing’s Too Hard For God.”  What an awesome song that reminds us that nothing is too hard for God!  I love how the song runs through a dozen or so things from the Bible where God came through in impossible circumstance!

“Nothing Greater Than Grace” is the next song on the project and this song has a beautiful delivery!  The song has an amazing message about the grace of Jesus Christ!  “He’s Alive” is a familiar song in Southern Gospel Music but the Millers have an exception version of this great song that simply reminds us that Jesus is ALIVE!!! When it comes to classic songs in Southern Gospel Music, “I Wouldn’t Take Nothing For My Journey Now” is certainly in that conversation!  The Millers sing that song next on this project and they do a very fine job of delivering this classic song.
