The Mark Trammell Quartet is one of my favorite groups that is out there singing today. If any of you remember the early days of this group, the group started as the Mark Trammell Trio. I have four projects from that era and I still enjoy each one of them. The Mark Trammell Quartet’s most recent project is titled “Rewind” and the project goes back and get ten songs from the trio days and they have rerecorded the songs as a quartet. While I have to admit that I do not remember all of the songs, I remember a lot of them and the songs on this project are all great!

The project begins with “Heaven.” Is there ever a better subject for a song that our final Home as a Christian? The song reminds us of that place that Jesus went to prepare for us. The second verse asks that you join us there and I sure pray that I will see each and every one of you there! “Coming Out, Moving In” is the next song on the project and this is another song about that day that we will be coming out of this life and moving into our Heavenly Home. Can you just imagine what that day will be like? One of the great truths of the Bible and being a Christian is the freedom that we find in Christ Jesus. “I Am Free” does a wonderful job of reminding us of the freedom that we find in Christ through Calvary.

The Mark Trammell Quartet goes back and gets an old convention song next with “When They Ring The Bells Of Heaven.” I have always loved this song and the guys have a terrific version recorded on the project. Do you ever have one of those days when you seem to struggle throughout your entire day? Of course you do, we all do! When many of us get weary, we turn to the Bible and read about the truths that this world is temporary and we are headed Home to Heaven soon. The song “I Needed To Hear That” says it far better than I can and I know the song will encourage you as it does me. Next on the project is a fun quartet song titled “I Know That I Know.” Not only is it a fun song but the message of knowing that we are redeemed and forgiven is a great one! We can know that we know that we know and that is exactly what this song says. “Loving The Lamb” is a beautiful ballad that proclaims that there is no way that the devil can prevent us from loving the Lord Jesus Christ. It is a powerful message and an incredible performance from the guys.

“It’s Jesus” is next on this project and this song reminds the listener of the several things that Jesus did and then it proclaims that all of those amazing things are Jesus! He is the Holy One and the Son Of God and He is all of these things and more! I very seldom run into a song that immediately makes into my all-time favorites but “When Compared To God” did just that! I love everything about this song from the melody to the performance and the incredible message. Everything that happens in this old world is very small and really amounts to nothing when you compare it to God. As Christians we are called to witness to others about Him and sometimes that can be discouraging. We sometimes do not see the fruits of our labors but isn’t it all worth it if even one comes to know Him? The final song on this project is “If Only Just A Few” and this song is a declaration that if only just few are saved, we will still give our all and get out there and continue telling others about Christ. I hope that you will be encouraged by this song make that pledge that the song talks about.

I have enjoyed Mark Trammell’s singing since the days when I first heard him with Cathedrals. I believe that the Mark Trammell Quartet is one of the finest groups singing today. This project has ten very powerful songs that, quite honestly, have life changing and incredibly encouraging messages in them. There is no way you can listen to this CD and not come away encouraged and blessed. My favorite songs from this project are “When They Ring The Bells Of Heaven,” “When Compared To God” and “If Only Just A Few.” The entire project is superb in every way, from the song selections to the production to the instrumentation and, of course, the vocal presentation and harmonies. You really need to get this CD if you have not already done so! For more information on the Mark Trammell Quartet, visit their website at www.marktrammellquartet.com.
