The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

Artist: Nelons Project Title: An Evening In December Label: Daywind Records Producers: Jason Clark, Wayne Haun
Family harmony and Christmas music just seem to go together. The Nelons have brought these things together with a Christmas project titled “An Evening In December.” Of course, the Nelons sing some of the most wonderful harmony you will find in Southern Gospel Music today and when they lend that harmony to some Christmas music, well you have just a slight dose of Christmas magic!
The project begins with some beautiful a cappella singing on the project’s title cut, “Evening In December.” The song is a wonderful melody about one of the favorite holiday pastimes, visiting with family! The song remarks about how happy it makes us to congregate with our loved ones. The next song on the project is the Christmas classic, “It’s Beginning To Look A Lot Like Christmas.” Jason does a phenomenal job on this familiar song that reminds that yes, everywhere you look, it is beginning to look a lot like Christmas! “Light A Candle” might be a little less familiar than some of the songs on this project but I love the message of this song which reminds not to forget about the people in need at Christmas time. There are many hurting people in this world and there is no better time to convey the Christmas story that can change their lifer than at the time of the year when we celebrate the birth of Christ.
Artist: Donna King Project Title: Song Of Noel Label: Journey Records Producers: Zane and Donna King
I first heard of Donna King when I was introduced a few years ago to a group called Hope’s Call. Immediately, I fell in love with her voice. As we fast forward to today, Donna is a well-respected producer and business woman in the Southern Gospel Music Industry. However, she is also still a very talented singer and this talented soprano vocalist has just released a solo Christmas recording titled “Song Of Noel.”
The project begins with a wonderful version of the classic Christmas carol, “Joy To The World.” What a great way to begin a Christmas project by talking about the joy to the world that came when Christ was born! This is a catchy version of this song that will continue to keep going through your head long after you have quit listening to the project. The next song on the project is “Little Altar Boy” and this song has one of those hauntingly beautiful melodies. Donna does a splendid job singing the song as well! Donna is also a songwriter and she collaborates with Rachel Morgan Perry on “Heaven Came To Earth.” I love this song and the message is awesome as well as it speaks of Heaven of coming to earth on Christmas and when it did He brought salvation and so much more!
It seems there are a number of songs at Christmas time that are written from the perspective of Mary. “Give Me This Night” is one of those songs and the sentiment of the song is a beautiful one. There are many classic Christmas songs that everyone knows and “My Favorite Things” is probably considered one of them. Donna does a great job singing this classic song that speaks of some of our favorite things about Christmas and the Christmas Season! The title song of the project is “Song Of Noel.” This song was written by Donna, along with her husband, Zane King. The song is a beautiful one which tells the real, wonderful message of Christmas as well as any song I have ever heard!
Artist: Browns Project Title: Christmas Joy Label: Independent Producers: Tim James
The Browns have been singing quality Gospel Music for several years now. In 2010, the group recorded a wonderful Christmas project titled “Christmas Joy” and it is a very good collection of Christmas music that the listeners will be enjoying for many more years.
The project begins with a true classic from the Christmas Season. The song is “Let It Snow” and the Browns do a great job on this song. Of course, living in the Northeast I am pretty accustomed to snow for Christmas and once we are settled in for the holiday, we are always ready to let it snow! There are many themes associated with Christmas and peace is one of the more popular ones. The next song on the project is “Peace On Earth.” The song starts out with some great instrumentals and then features some great harmony later in the song. It is a beautiful arrangement and performance of one of the great sentiments of the Christmas season. The popular Christmas song “Jingle Bells” is next and who doesn’t love to hear that song during the Christmas season? One of my favorite songs at the Christmas Season is “Carol Of The Bells.” The Browns have an outstanding instrumental version of this song and I know you will enjoy it!
I always appreciate the groups recording the great Christmas Carols too and the Browns recorded “What Child Is This” next on the project. I have always loved the lyric of this song as it reminds just who that Child was that was born on that first Christmas morning. Another of the Christmas favorites is next with “Sleigh Ride.” This a fun song and if you have ever been on a sleigh ride, it will give you some great memories of that time! “All Through The Silent Night” is the next track and what a beautiful medley of many of your favorite Christmas Carols that you will, without a doubt, know.
Artist: Lindsey Graham Project Title: My Christmas Wish Label: Independent Producers: Unknown
Lindsey Graham is a talented young lady who has a number of recorded projects to her credit. We have been honored to review her last two Gospel projects and now we are pleased to Include another project from Lindsey titled “My Christmas Wish.” This recording is an outstanding collection of Christmas music from one of today’s top female soprano singers.
This project begins with an appropriate song, an old classic Christmas song, titled “The Most Wonderful Time Of The Year.” As most of you reading this are well aware, this song reminds about many of the wonderful things that makes Christmas such a great time of the year. The next song on the project is a beautiful melody titled “Heirlooms.” The song reminisces about some of the many memories and heirlooms that we have in our lives but it goes on to remind us that our family and, more importantly, Jesus is far more than an heirloom to us. “Breath Of Heaven” is the next song and this beautiful song begins with being written from Mary’s perspective and it tells some of thoughts that she might have had that first Christmas season. By the time the song is over it is a beautiful prayer for all of us that God would pour His holiness over us. Next on the project is “Go Tell.” This is a song has an upbeat tempo and the message is one that encourages and reminds the listener to tell others about the wonderful message that Jesus Is Born!
Artist: Kingdom Heirs Project Title: The Heart Of Christmas Label: Crossroads Producers: Crossroads
Merry Christmas to you and yours! When you combine ten fabulous songs proclaiming the birth of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, Who is the reason for the season! and an amazingly talented orchestra to go along with it, you have the Kingdom Heirs “The Heart of Christmas.” I have always been impressed with the work of the Kingdom Heirs. “The Heart of Christmas” has it all: new and old, hymns, more contemporary, secular and Christian, and an old favorite that Charles Schulz would be impressed with in song number seven, “Charlie Brown Christmas.”
“The Heart of Christmas” the first song and also the name of the Kingdom Heirs’ project, features the tenor singer (Jerry Martin), with solid harmony and instrumentals accompanying it. A message that can easily be taken away is that with all of the “hustle and bustle” of this time of year, we should all just slow down and really think about the meaning of Christmas. Jesus, whose purpose was to be born so that He could die, and die as a sin substitute for the penalty that should come to us. Great song with a great message! “Do You Hear What I Hear” is song number two on this project. With a strong instrumental accompaniment, this song points to the star, the song and the Son of God. The tenor, the bass (Jeff Chapman) and the lead (Arthur Rice) each sing a verse of this time treasured song, and then four part harmony takes the last verse. Awesome song! The next song on this project is titled “Go Tell (Go Tell it on the Mountain.)” Featuring Arthur Rice on this, along with a “bluesy” accompaniment, the song tells us to tell the Good News that we have of Jesus. The song finishes in the more traditional “Go Tell it on the Mountain.” As Christians we cannot keep this wonderful message inside once we have the message, we have to go tell others that Jesus Christ is LORD!!
