I have known Randy Simpson for a lot years now and I always look forward to a new project from this talened soloist. Randy's latest project is get on board and it is another project of great songs and great singing like we have come to expect from Randy Simpson.

The project begins with a good song titled "Oh What A Day."  The song has a catchy tune but I love the message that talks about that day that we gather with the Savior!  One of the more popular songs in Southern Gospel Music over the past few years is "He Is Mine."  Randy sings this song next and it is a good version.  "Holy Glory To The Lamb" is the next song and this up tempo song is an enjoyable song.

When I first began listening to Southern Gospel Music as a child, I was drawn to the harmony and the music of the male quartets.  A few years later my parents and I attended an "All-Night Sing" and I began to get exposed to different groups.  It was at this concert that I began to get to know several family and mixed groups.  Over the several days of this concert, I heard The Hemphills, The Nelons and a group called The Hoppers.  I was instantly hooked!  Several years have passed since that concert and I must say that I enjoy the music of those groups even more than I did in those days.  The Hoppers have gone on to be wildly successful in Southern Gospel Music since that concert several years ago when the group was called The Hopper Brothers and Connie.  They have turned out quality project after quality project and hit song after hit song.  Their latest project, titled "Something's Happening," is an awesome display of the Hoppers vocal ability which continues a fine tradition of top notch recordings from this legendary group.

The project begins with an upbeat, well-known song from the Southern Gospel archives.  The song is the great Nancy Harmon song titled "Victory Shall Mine."  I love the harmony in this song and the message of the victory that we have in Christ Jesus never grows old.  "Oh How Amazing Is Amazing Grace" is the next song and this catchy song will quickly become a favorite!  The arrangement and delivery of this song is fantastic from start to finish.  The Hoppers have long been known for those ballads that start off soft and just continue to build all the way to a huge and powerful climax.  The title song of the project is one such song and, as usual, The Hoppers deliver "Something's Happening" as only they can.  The next song marks the recording debut of Dean and Kim's daughter, Karlye.  It sounds as though she has a bright future in Southern Gospel Music and the song, titled "Nobody's Too Bad Or Too Good," is an awesome reminder that God can save anyone, no matter how bad or good they are.

Pennsylvania has long been a hotbed for Southern Gospel Music.  Along with several major Southern Gospel Events throughout the state every year, there are a number of Southern Gospel Groups and Artists that make their home in Pennsylvania.  One of those groups is Brothers In Grace.  I met this group shortly after I moved to Pennsylvania in 1998 and I have enjoyed their music since then.  Their latest project is titled "Good Morning" and it is a great collection of quartet songs that you will enjoy.

The project begins with a great a cappella arrangement of the chorus of "Revive Us Again."  That leads us right into a familiar song titled "Gotta Go Back."  I have always enjoyed this song and Brothers In Grace does an outstanding job singing this one.  "Getcha To The Other Side" is the next song on the project.  This old Kingsmen song celebrates crossing over to Glory and is always enjoyable.  The title song of the project is next and "Good Morning" is another song celebrating our arrival in Heaven and what it might be like.

When I first began to get into Southern Gospel Music I listened mostly to male quartet music.  That all changed a couple of years later when I first heard a group called the Hemphills.  The Hemphills were a family group that featured a father, mother and their three children.  The lone daughter of the family was Candy and she had gone on to become one of the all time great soprano vocalists in Southern Gospel Music.  Candy Christmas is a little older now since that day I first met her but she still has that great singing voice and this solo project is fantastic.

The first song on the project is written by Jasmine Christmas Brady who is Candy's daughter.  The song is an upbeat song titled "There's A Blessing (On The Other Side)." The song is very enjoyable.  The next song on the project is "Since I Laid My Burdens Down."  I love this song as it reminds us that we can give Christ all of our burdens.  "Can You See The Clock" is the next song and continues the songs with a strong message.  The next song on the project is titled "Troubles Of This World." I love the message as it reminds the listener that we soon will be done with the all of the troubles in this life and will be headed home to Heaven.

If you have not heard the Nelons brand new project, you have not heard the Nelons!  The Nelons are one of the most storied names in Southern Gospel Music and they can trace their roots back a long way.  They have had many legendary singers over the course of the group's history and today we have Jason Clark, Kelly Nelon Clark and Amber Nelon Thompson carrying on the great tradition of this group.  Not only are they are they carrying it on but they are doing so with a great deal of talent and class.

The project starts off with an upbeat song titled "The Love Of God."  It talks about how God's Love was demonstrated on the Cross of Calvary.  It also talks about the greatness of God's Love.  The song is a great start to this wonderful project.  The title song of the project is next.  "Beside Still Waters" is a beautiful song reminding us that God leads us by still waters and we can lay our burdens down.  The tempo picks up on the next song titled "Goodbye Valley Hello Mountaintop."  I love the message of this song as it encourages the listener by reminding them that God will bring them through the valley to the mountaintop once again.  "There Is A Way" is an awesome and beautiful song.  I love the chorus that simply reminds us that there is a way we can be saved and it's by the Gospel of Christ!
