It seems like forever since we have reviewed a project from Gold City!  Well, we just received their most recent project for review and I can plainly see and hear that this quartet has not lost anything since I last heard them!  “Somebody’s Coming” is the name of the project and, like most Gold City project before this one, it is some of the finest male quartet singing you will hear anywhere.

I think that we should create a rule for all male quartets that they must begin their project with a song written by Dianne Wilkinson! Gold City does so with “Peter, James And John” and this upbeat song showcases right away the four-part harmony that we have come to expect from Gold City.  This is the current radio single for Gold City and recently was named the number one song in the country on the Singing News Magazine Chart.  “I Get Down” features Tim Riley and Tim certainly leaves no doubt that he is one of the finest bass singers to come along ever in Southern Gospel Music.  The songs message will encourage you as well as it reminds you that when we get down, we just talk to Jesus and He will see us through our problem.  The next song on the project is “Footprints On The Water.”   As you might expect from the title, this song talks about the day that Jesus walked on the water.  It is an upbeat song recalling the power of Jesus!

Project Title: He Gives A Song
Label: Skyland/Crossroads
Producer: Jeff Collins

We receive a lot of music from groups that we are not familiar with.  We always enjoy that as we have discovered a number of very talented artists that way.  The Murray Family is a new one to us and they are a true family group with three couples making up the group.  Their new project is their debut project on Skyland, one of the Crossroads labels, and includes ten songs.

The song opens with the familiar song, “What Heaven Means To Me.”  I had not heard that song in a little bit and it was nice to hear the song and the wonderful message of it again.  “Sufficient Grace” is an awesome song!  What a wonderful message that God will also give us sufficient grace to face anything that may come our way in life.  The next song on the project is titled “I’m Going Where He Lives.”  This song talk about the day we cross over to Heaven, where He lives.

Nelons -- Come On Home

Artist: The Nelons
Project Title: Come On Home
Label: Independent
Producers: Bill Gaither and Jason Clark

Normally, when I review a project I listen to it three or four times before writing the review.  I am not sure how many times I have listened to the Nelons latest project but I can now sing the bass line and know all of the words to the songs by heart!  In all seriousness, this project has blessed me so much that I just love listening to it and will continue to listen long after this review is done.  The project is produced by Bill Gaither and Jason Clark and includes fifteen wonderful songs, some of which you will recognize and some you may not.

The project starts out with a familiar song from the late 1980’s.  The song is titled “I Have Seen The Children” and this version includes a guest appearance from Bill Gaither.  Right away you will hear the incredible harmonies that the Nelons have been known for since I began listening to them back in the 1970’s.  It certainly would not surprise anyone to find some Bill and Gloria Gaither songs on this project and, in fact, there are several on this recording.  “Come On Home” is one of those songs and it is also the title song for the project.  I have heard this song many times but not recently.  What a beautiful song of coming home to Jesus!  The harmonies and vocals are exquisite on this beautiful song and it will bless you time and time again.  If you like your music with a touch of country flair then there are a couple of songs on here for you!  “Come To The River” is the first one and the joy in this song is the message that we can come to God’s River because it will never run dry!

Label: Stowtown Records
Producer: Wayne Haun

For several years now Ernie Haase and Signature Sound have been at or near the top of the Southern Gospel Music Industry.  They have a unique style and always come up with new and innovative arrangements that their fans always seem to enjoy.  Their latest project is titled “Here We Are Again” and this project just continues the tradition of great, innovative music performed by this talented quartet.

The traditional song “Swing Low, Sweet Chariot” leads off this project.  While this is a traditional song that is much loved in Southern Gospel Music, it is unlikely you have ever heard it sung quite like this! It is a very enjoyable version of the song and a terrific way to get this project started.  “Singing In The Midnight Hour” is a Diane Wilkinson creation and this upbeat song is handled wonderfully by Ernie and the guys.  I also love the message of God’s deliverance in the midnight hour!  The titled song of the project is next and “Here We Are Again” is a song of worship as it celebrates once again being in the presence of our God.  “I Believe” is the old song from the 1950’s!  I barely remember this song but I have heard a few other gospel groups sing it over the years.  This version is exceptional in every way and will be enjoyed by everyone, whether they remember the song or not.

For several years now I have heard of the Soul’d Out Quartet;  I have heard a few songs from the group through radio releases and their website but this is the first full project that I have been able to listen to and what a great way to become acquainted with this great male quartet.  Their brand new project is titled “What The World Doesn’t Know” and it contains ten songs that will prove the tremendous talent of these men.

The project begins with an upbeat song titled “All Things Are Possible.”  What a great song to start a project.  Not only is it a traditional sounding Southern Gospel song but it also has a very positive message reminding us that with God, all things are possible.  The song also showcases the quartet’s vocals and let you know right away that you are in for a quality project!  Things slow down on the next song but this beautiful song has a tremendous message that reminds us to go out and get the unsaved and tell them of Jesus’ Love and the life changing message that Jesus Saves!  “Since I’ve Been Saved” is an easy listening song that reminds me of some of the songs the Kingsmen and the Cathedrals recorded back in the 1970’s and 1980’s.  The song has terrific harmonies in it and reminds us of the many great changes in our life sing we have been saved.
