PROPHETS QUARTET ON THE GOSPEL GREATS (story added October 27)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Prophets Quartet were recently featured on Southern Gospel's most prestigious syndicated radio program – The Gospel Greats with Paul Heil.

The newly reorganized group was featured in the Artist Spotlight segment of the popular radio show during the weekend of October 13-14, 2007.

The Prophets were interviewed during the week of the National Quartet Convention this past September. The Artist Spotlight segment included portions from that interview as well as two new songs from the Prophets Quartet's upcoming recording.

"We were so honored to be interviewed by Paul," mentioned Ed Hill of The Prophets Quartet. "We had such a good time doing this interview with Paul. The interview turned out great. We are so pleased with the response we have already seen from it."

The two songs that the Prophets Quartet debuted were "Love Like the Sun" and "I'll Follow." "Love Like the Sun" is a song revived by the Prophets for this new album. It is a Lari Goss composed song that the original Prophets Quartet also recorded.

Paul Jackson of the Prophets Quartet said, "Personally, it's a great honor for me to sing Lari's song anytime, but to get to sing it with two legends, and one of the world's greatest bass singers and have it premier on the number one SG Radio program of all time, well, what can I say? Thank you God for this fantastic musical blessing!"

"I'll Follow" was written by Prophets lead singer Paul Jackson and acclaimed singer/songwriter/producer Johnny Minick.

The Prophets Quartet was in the studio this past week laying down tracks for the last few songs to be included on the group's debut recording. More information on the new recording will be released shortly.

More information on the newly revived quartet will be available at http://www.prophetsquartet.com

NORTHERN EDGE IN THE STUDIO (story added October 25)

(Goodlettsville, TN) - Northern Edge, from Hart, Michigan, was recently in the studio recording tracks for their new project with the Eddie Crook Company.

This mixed quartet found it's calling into the ministry in 1999 as a family trio. While looking for that true Southern gospel four part harmony a bass singer was added to the group in 2000. This blend of harmonies gave a new sound to area churches. Listening to Northern Edge one can certainly expect to hear Southern Gospel, but may also hear a little country and perhaps, even a bit of gospel and blues.

A projected street date for the project is early 2008.  For more information visit www.northernedge.org.

SHARE AMERICA GIVES FIRST SCHOLARSHIP (story added October 17)

The Share America Foundation, Inc. announced its first scholarship recipient at its Oct. 12 Sacred Sounds Fridays concert featuring Four Fold and Garrett Arb at the Ringgold Depot in Ringgold, Ga.

The monthly events help fund the organization’s Pearl and Floyd Franks Scholarship. Pearl and Floyd Franks are the late parents and former entertainment managers of actor/entertainer Randall Franks, "Officer Randy Goode" from TV's "In the Heat of the Night." The scholarships honor students excelling the Appalachian musical arts.

Deborah Taylor, 15, of Ringgold was selected to be the 2007 Catoosa County designee for the scholarship.
Taylor appeared at the event performing “Amazing Grace,” “Old Rugged Cross,” “Jericho’s Walls are Falling Down” and “Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing.”

“She was not aware that she was to receive the award so it came as quite a surprise to her,” said Joe Turner, Share America chairman. “It was completely unexpected,” Taylor said. “I was speechless.” The board will decide the amount of the scholarship at the time of the award, Turner said.

“One of our annual scholarships is set aside for a musician from Catoosa County, Ga. There were no applicants from Catoosa this year so the board of directors chose to select a candidate and award the 2007 scholarship in the year that candidate attends college,” said Randall Franks, Share America president. “Deborah is carrying on the traditional music of this region through her learning the basics of the bluegrass fiddle and performing of the gospel hymns. I think my Mom and Dad would be applauding her efforts.”

The requirements for designees to receive the scholarship are to fulfill the application requirements in the year he or she enroll in college immediately following graduation and continue to play the Appalachian musical instrument of their choice, according to Franks.

“We will soon be awarding a second scholarship to the winning applicant from outside our community,” he said. “That recipient was not able to attend the concert but will be receiving the award at one of the organization’s future events.”

Taylor is a home-school student from Ringgold who began playing the fiddle three years ago. She also plays piano and sings. “I heard singer Josh Groban’s violinist and that made me want to take lessons,” she said. “Instead of the violin, I began fiddle lessons and that was something that seemed to be so much more relaxed and fun that I haven’t been able to stop playing since.” She said she hopes to minor in music when she attends Trevecca Nazarene University although she still has about a year to complete her high school studies. “I want to be a doctor. I don’t know what type yet,” she said.

Taylor has competed in approximately 10 fiddle competitions in the Tennessee Valley where she has placed on occasion. Often seen behind her playing guitar is her grandfather Lewis Taylor. “He helps me with my timing — playing guitar rhythm,” she said. “He is a great musician who is a lot of help to me.” Taylor is the daughter of Derek and Jeanne Babb Taylor and granddaughter of Roger and Sandra Babb, Lewis Taylor, Betty Taylor and step-granddaughter of Susan Taylor. For more information about the organization and its programs contact Share America, P.O. Box 42, Tunnel Hill, Ga. 30755.

VINE RECORDS SIGNS HISSONG (story added October 10)

NASHVILLE, TN (October 10, 2007) - Vine Records is pleased to announce that they have signed HisSong, an exciting new trio, to an exclusive recording contract.

Their debut label release, "On the Way Up," offers powerful songs of deliverance and encouragement from top industry artist/writers such as Walt Mills, Tanya Goodman Sykes and Joel Hemphill, as well as other professional staff writers who have delivered hundreds of hits (Wayne Haun, Joel Lindsey, Marty Funderburk, Tony Wood, Lyn Rowell, Caleb Collins and Ola Graves).

Dennis Humphries of HisSong describes the new partnership in this way: "Before any of this happened, we prayed that God would lead us to the right opportunity, and it's amazing to see a genius producer like Wayne Haun work so hard, and put everything he has into this project. Working with Vine Records has been the answer to our prayers."

The first radio single from the project, "The Grave Can't Hold Me" has already jumped into the Top 30 of the Singing News chart. Adam Cannon is finding that this song is striking a stronger chord with audiences than the group has ever seen before: "People talk to us after each concert and tell us stories of losing a mother or father, a son or a daughter, and how they need the CD with that song - because it gives them hope. For now, we can only take their pre-orders, but they're excited that they won't have to wait much longer for the project!"

Southern Gospel fans won't have to wait much longer for this highly anticipated CD; it is scheduled for release on November 20, 2007, on the Vine Records label, and will be distributed by Crossroads Entertainment and Marketing, Inc.

AUDIO-TECHNICA IS THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR THE ISAACS (story added October 8)

123rd AES CONVENTION, NEW YORK, NY, October 5, 2007 — For 21+ years, The Isaacs have forged a uniquely artistic path from the mean streets of New York City to the foothills of Eastern Kentucky and down every stretch of highway in between and beyond — fusing bluegrass, gospel and country — to make an extraordinary mark on three distinctive genres of music.

But when the time came to record their 30th album, they were looking to shake up the status quo, to break new ground musically. So with the help of producer Mark Bright, (who also produced Carrie Underwood, Rascal Flatts, Sara Evans) and the opportunity to record at Reba McEntire's Starstruck Studio, The Isaacs set out to show what they're really made of. BIG SKY, the band's second release for Gaither Music Group, is the stunning, eclectic and joyful result — and the microphone of choice to capture The Isaacs instruments and unique vocals, Audio-Technica’s AT4060 Cardioid Condenser Tube Microphone.

Ben Isaacs, who wears a number of different hats with the group, including vice president, road manager, son, musician and bass player, recalls his use of the AT4060 in the studio. “The 4060 is the most uncolored mic that I have ever worked with. It doesn’t add anything extra on the top end or on the low end. It’s just really smooth. We used it for both male and female vocals. In fact, it actually sounds even better on females. It’s warm and fuzzy on the guys, but still natural. On the females, it’s so natural sounding that it’s like standing in a great acoustic room with them, and in the studio you have the best of all acoustic surroundings so it’s just going to capture all that. It’s incredible.”

Producer Mark Bright known for his work with Rascal Flatts, Sarah Evans, Lonestar, and Carrie Underwood, echo’s Isaacs remarks. “We put up a lot of mics, did a shoot-out and the 4060 just seemed to have this open, smooth sound to it. The only thing I care about is how good an instrument or vocal sounds. In many cases, tube mics will be the thing that’ll make something sound smooth and just musically pleasing — so the 4060 became the workhorse during our sessions with the Isaacs.”

While on tour, The Isaacs are using Audio-Technica’s acclaimed Artist Elite® 4000 Series UHF Wireless System with the AEW-T5400 handheld microphone/transmitter for frontline vocals. Ben Isaacs comments on their use of the A-T Artist Elite 4000 Series UHF Wireless System on tour, “when we are on the road with the Gaithers, we’re playing in coliseums, which translates to 15,000 people, two nights a week, nine months a year. So that’s what they use and we just pick up their mics and use those. Then, when we do our own touring, our average solo concert is probably 1500 people. Audio-Technica performs great from a small venue to a concert hall — it’s a great system.”

Celebrating over 45 years of audio excellence worldwide, Audio-Technica is a leading innovator in transducer technology, renowned for the design and manufacture of microphones, wireless microphones, headphones, mixers, and electronics for the audio industry.

GORDON MOTE TO RELEASE NEW SOLO PROJECT (story added October 5)

BRENTWOOD, Tenn.—Oct. 5th, 2007—Spring Hill Music Group, in conjunction with RSI Music Group, is scheduled to release the label debut recording from acclaimed session and concert musician and vocalist Gordon Mote. One of the most celebrated and sought after piano players on Nashville’s famed Music Row, Gordon’s piano prowess and heartfelt vocals are showcased on Don’t Let Me Miss the Glory, a country/Gospel recording that will hit shelves nationwide on October 23rd.

Co-produced by Gordon alongside industry veteran and award-winning songwriter Phil Johnson, Don’t Let Me Miss the Glory offers a broad view of the multi-faceted talents and styles that have made Gordon a household name among industry insiders and fans alike.

Listeners who recognize Gordon’s contributions to albums by Alan Jackson, Martina McBride, Rascall Flatts and countless other country artists will appreciate the country-tinged tunes and signature piano styling that has become that “Gordon Mote” sound. Gospel listeners will enjoy his down-to-earth approach and uplifting lyrics in addition to his renderings of cover tunes such as “I Can’t Even Walk (Without You Holding My Hand)” and “My Redeemer Is Faithful and True.”

The project features a guest appearance from longtime friend and country music veteran Alison Krauss, for whom Gordon plays regularly, as well as Gospel greats The Isaacs, Charlotte Penhollow Ritchie and The Gaither Vocal Band.

“I’ve been blessed to play on so many releases, varying from Brad Paisley and Kenny Chesney to Bill Gaither and Mark Lowry,” describes Gordon. “In doing my own project, whether I’m playing or singing, it’s fun to get in there and find the heart of who I really am individually. I couldn’t have done that without Phil [Johnson]. He really helped me to know what was ‘me’ and what was ‘me based on others I’ve worked with.’”

Perhaps the fact that Gordon has been blind since birth has given him his unique sense of “seeing music” through eyes of his own, whatever the genre. Country listeners can anticipate the heartfelt first single “Wake Up Dancin’,” an endearing song about a grandfather talking to his grandchild just before passing away; and the first Gospel single, “Mercy Walked In,” is already turning heads in the southern Gospel marketplace.

“There are church environments that Gordon plays that want a more formal sound, and there are arenas that call for ‘hand-clappin’ and ‘foot-stompin’ numbers,” states Bob Rodgers, RSI Music Group president. “Don’t Let Me Miss the Glory brings with it the grandeur of orchestration on some songs as well as the ‘toe-tappin’’ sounds of a Gaither Homecoming event…but all of it is a part of the musicianship that is uniquely Gordon.”

That musicianship has taken Gordon to over 50 markets over the past six months with upcoming dates in Canada and throughout the Unites States. Gordon was a featured vocalist when he played nationwide over the summer with DOVE nominees Ernie Haase & Signature Sound in addition to special dates ongoing with artists such as Alison Krauss and Porter Wagner. He will play and sing throughout the fall in major market arenas as part of the world-renowned Gaither Homecoming tour on which he has become a staple artist.

“We have long been fans of Gordon’s music,” states Vice President of Spring Hill Music Group Paul Sizelove. “He has not only proven himself to be one of the most sought after piano players in the country music world and entertained tens of thousands alongside Bill Gaither, but he is also a fine vocalist and communicator with a genuine spirit that comes across in the passion heard on this release.”

Gordon has been nominated in recent years for both Musician of the Year at the Academy of Country Music (ACM) Awards and also for a GMA DOVE Award.

Don’t Let Me Miss the Glory will be distributed to the CBA and general marketplace through EMI CMG Distribution. The recording will be available digitally on October 9th. For further information, visit www.gordonmote.com.
