I recently purchased the latest project by Susie Luchsinger. In my opinion, it is her BEST project ever! If you enjoy outstanding Southern Gospel and Christian Country Music, this project is for you! Here is my review.

Susie Luchsinger - "Count It All Joy"

1) "Count It All Joy"

Rating - AAA+++

Comments: This is one of the BEST songs I have heard in a very long time! The words and melody are awesome. SG Radio should be playing and charting this song. If you are going through a trial or test, this song is a perfect one to listen to. It has very positive and true message!

Comments: You have to hear the lyrics! Awesome song!

Rating - A

Comments: Another great song reminding us that Jesus is the Bridge!

7) "Then They Do"

Rating - AA+

Comments: I LOVED this song when Trace Adkins recorded it. usie adds her touch and makes it an even better song! I am writing this review on my children's 17th birthday today. How appropriate! Listen to the song and you'll understand what I mean!

8) "Someday I Know"

Rating - A

Comments: As pure Southern Gospel, as it gets! Fantastic song!

9) "Sittin At A Red Light"

Rating - AA++

Comments: The writer of this song wrote a fabulous song!!!! We spend our lives doing a lot of things we never think about, like sitting at a red light. But, how much time do we spend on the IMPORTANT things? Listen to this outstanding song!!!

10) "Parable Of The Windmill"

Rating - A-

Comments: My least favorite song on the new project, but still receives an "A" rating! The song has a slight "western" feel to it. The message is wonderful.

11) "Untitled Hymn"

Rating - A

Comments: A nice song to end this totally awesome project! The call could easily be titled, "Call To Jesus And Live".

FINAL COMMENTS - I rarely would give a project an overall rating of A+. Unless, of course, it is by the Oak Ridge Boys! But, this laterst offering from Susie Luchsinger is just one fantastic CD! There is NOT one bad or mediocre song on it. Your music collection will not be complete without this new CD. Susie is the sister of Reba McEntire. Susie sings every bit as good as her sister! DJs... I sure hope you are playing this new CD!

Crossroads Airplay Sampler

February 2006

1) Kingdom Heirs/ "God's Word"

Rating: A

Comments: GREAT song! Wonderful words and the guys can forevermore sing!

2) Ivan Parker/ "The Grace That I'm Under"

Rating: A

Comments: One of the BEST singles that Ivan has ever released. I wish I was still in radio so that I could play it on my Morning Show!

3) Gospel Enforcers/ "Gotta Keep Holding On"

Rating: A

Comments: I love Southern Gospel Music with soul! This song provides it very well!!!!

Daywind Radio Disc 63

1) Mike Bowling/ "Too Many Times"

Rating: A+

Comments: This is a BEAUTIFUL song! Mike's voice sounds terrific on this song that Ronny Hinson wrote. While a new song, the chorus reminds me of Dottie Rambo's classic song, "Too Much To Gain To Lose". Regardless, this is Mike's BEST single ever... in my opinion!

2) Perrys/ "Who Am I"

Rating: A

Comments: The Perrys do a fabulous job with this Rusty Goodman classic! It will be great seeing this classic song move up the charts! The only drawback is that once you have heard the late Rusty Goodman sing his classic song, no one will ever be able to match his performance. But, as my wife said to me, Rusty is no longer alive to sing it. Libby does an AWESOME job on the part that Vestal had. In fact, it actually sounds like Vestal Goodman doing the singing! Libby hit that part right on the head! This IS A TREMENDOUS SONG!

3) Mark Lowry/ "Watcha Need"

Rating: A-

Comments: This new song by Mark pushes the boundaries of Southern Gospel. Of course, I am one who is always ready to spread the boundaries of Southern Gospel Music! This song would do great on Country radio! If SG DJs will get it a chance, SG listeners will enjoy the song. It has a terrific message and Mark is one of the finest singers around!

4) Hoskins Family/ "Heaven Awaits"

Rating: A-

Comments: Here is another song pushing the SGM boundaries! I was not expecting what I heard. I thoroughly enjoyed the song. This group has come a long ways since their first radio release.

5) Freemans/ "Already Sold Out"

Rating: A-

Comments: The Freemans really sound good on this new single. They remind of Wynonna Judd! It is another well-written song from the pen of Ronny Hinson!

6) Chigger Hill Boys & Terri/ "How About A Hallelujah"

Rating: B

Comments: As you might know from earlier reviews, I am not a fan of Bluegrass Music. If I were, this song would be one of my favorites! These folks have great harmony.

7) Florida Boys/ "Sing Your Blues Away"

Rating: A-

Comments: The Florida Boys turn in a great rendition of this old classic quartet song. They do it as well as the Blackwood Brothers and Statesmen ever did. Radio should love it!

8) Charles Johnson/ "Until Then"

Rating: B+

Comments: Quinton Mills wrote this song several years ago. In fact, Charles Johnson released it as a single several years ago. This new release is a live version of the song. I LOVE the song and I absolutely LOVE the music of Charles Johnson. However, this single is a little too long and drawn out for airplay, in my opinion. Some live recordings work well for radio. But, I am not sure if this single will. Perhaps an edited version will be released later.

9) Judy Jacobs/ "That Settles It For Me"

Rating: A-

Comments: Judy is better known as an Inspo/Praise & Worship artist, than a Southern gospel artist. BUT..... she tears it up with this new single!!!!! I hope SG radio will give it a real good chance!

10) Tommy Overstreet/ "Old John's Spirit"

Rating: B+

Comments: I have not heard anything from Tommy Overstreet in a long time. This is a wonderful song that will fit in well with Southern Gospel and Christian Country radio.

11) Marilyn Sellers/ "One Day At A Time"

Rating: A

Comments: In the early 70's this lady broke onto the Country Music scene with this song! She made it popular way before Cristy Lane ever did. Actually, I like Marilyn's version much more than Cristy Lane's. This sounds like the original recording of the song. Perhaps it has been re-recorded. I find it interesting that it is being released over 30 years after it became a classic!

I would like to do more reviews of complete projects by artists. However, no record label, song promoter or artists have sent me complete projects. I did purchase the latest project by the Oak Ridge Boys. It is a TOTALLY AWESOME project! I am going to review this latest offering from the Oak Ridge Boys. If you only purchase one CD this year, this should be it, in my opinion!

Oak Ridge Boys/ "Common Thread"

This latest recording has four new songs, along with 5 hymns. It also has songs that the Oak Ridge Boys made into hits in the late 60's-early 70's. The Oaks have re-recorded all of these songs. What a fabulous combination of songs!

1) "Jesus Is Coming Soon" - The Oaks had a number one hit song with this song in 1969. The guys sound better today on the song than when they originally recorded it!

2) "He Did It All For Me" - This is a song that lead singer, Duane Allen, wrote years ago. It has always been one of my favorite songs from the Oak Ridge Boys. I was THRILLED to see that they had re-recorded the song.

3) "You Can't Fix It" - What a beautiful new song! My daughter LOVES this song. We can't fix things in our lives, but HE can.

4) "I Know" - The Oak Ridge Boys had a mega hit with this song that Laverne Tripp wrote. They took it to number one back in 1971.

5) "The Journey" - What a great song that tenor singer, Joe Bonsall wrote. It is a newer song and they Oaks sound beautiful on it.

6) "How Great Thou Art" - What more needs to be said about this cut? You take one of the true classic hymns and put the voices of one of the true classic groups to it and what do you have? Listen and you will find out!

7) "This Little Light Of Mine" - The Oaks have taken this classic song and made it into a nice upbeat and enjoyable song that both adults and kids will enjoy! Each member of the group has a solo in the song. Perfect song!

8) "You Don't Have To Go Home" - This is one of the newer songs on the disc. The song has a wonderful message and of course, the vocals are awesome!

9) "Amazing Grace" - What more needs to be said about this cut? You take one of the true classic hymns and put the voices of one of the true classic groups to it and what do you have? Listen and you will find out!

10) "I Saw The Light" - Hank Williams would have been proud of the way the Oak Ridge Boys recorded his classic gospel song. I love it!

11) "Keep Our World Safe" - This new song was written by lead singer Duane Allen's wife, Norah Lee Allen. The song is very sweet and pretty.

12) "God Will Take Care Of You" - Another classic hymn done only the way the Oak Ridge Boys could do it. What a terrific way to end a fantastic album!

In my opinion, this will be one of the BEST, if not the BEST projects that will ever be released by any artist. I have been listening to it over and over again. It is a MUST for your music library! AND... DJs you ought to play it! Even if you have to go and purchase it like I did!
