The Cockman
Family was a new name to us here at the
Southern Gospel Music Forum. Their
project they sent for review has 13
songs on it and they are a mix of the
known songs and some new ones.
I always
love songs about the Blood of Jesus and
"Nothing But The Blood" is probably the
best one ever written. "Lily Of
The Valley" is a song that reminds us
that God is the lily in our valley.
"Thank You God For Your Blessings" is a
great song that give praise to Jesus for
the blessings He has given us!
"Old Time Religion" is a great old song
and the Cockman Family has a great a
cappella arrangement on the song.
The next song is about another of my
favorite subjects. "He Giveth More
Grace" is an awesome song about God's
Grace!
The next
song picks up the pace as "My Rock"
reminds us that Jesus is our Rock!
"My Name Is In The Book" is a another up
tempo song that rejoices in the fact
that, once we are saved, our name is
written in the Lamb's Book of Life.
"One More Day" slows things down again
and it is a beautiful song that
encourages us to try to make it one more
day toward that final reward in Heaven.
"The
Promise," written by John Cockman, Jr.,
is the next song. The traditional
song "Meeting In The Air" is next and
since this is one of my favorite songs,
I really enjoyed it! "Jesus Keep
Me Near The Cross" is another familiar
hymn that is sung next. The tempo
picks up to a blinding spped on "Looking
For A Place To Cross" but the song is a
good one talking about looking for a
place to get across that Jordan River!
The project winds up with a great
performance on "Softly And Tenderly."
The Cockman
Family appears to be very talented if we
judge by this recording. Their
harmonies are strong and most of the
songs on the project are very good
lyrically and produced well. My
favorite songs from the project are
"Meeting In the Air," "Thank You God For
Your Blessings" and "Lily Of The
Valley." The project is a very
enjoyable one that will bless you many
times. For more information on the
