Ivan Parker has been a well known name in Southern Gospel Music for quite a long time.  I first remember him with the Singing Americans and then, of course, during his tenure with Gold City.  He has been a soloist for a while now and his latest project is a great one!

"That Was Then This Is Now" reminds us how God can turn things around for us!  "I Choose" is a slower song and it's a beautiful melody.  The song was written by Rodney Griffin and is very enjoyable.  "Oh I Want To See Him" is a great, old song and Ivan puts a little different spin on it but I still very much enjoyed it.  "Thank You" is a song that was made popular by Ray Boltz a few years ago.  I always enjoyed the song and Ivan has the perfect voice for it.

Sandy Knight is one of the all time great writers in Southern Gospel Music and "Hit The Ground Running" is another in a long line of good ones!  "Rise And Be Healed" is a really superior song that speaks of the healing power of God.  Another terrific song written by Sandy Knight is next as Ivan sings "In The Middle Of My Everyday Life."  It reminds us that Christ could and will come at any moment, right in the middle of our everyday life!  My absolute favorite hymn is "It Is Well."  I have heard it sung by hundreds of people of the year and Ivan's ranks right up there with my favorite versions of this song.

"Higher Ground" is another hymn of the church that Ivan sings very well!  "Only A Hill" is a slower melody that is an interesting song.  The message is a great one as it speaks of the fact that God will help you through anything and when it's over, that mountain will seem like a hill.  "A King Is Coming To Town" is an upbeat song that sounds like a Christmas song!  In fact, it is but it works year round too!  The project ends with Ivan singing the song that put him on the map when he was with Gold City.  It is a live cut of the great song "Midnight Cry."

Ivan Parker has well established himself as one of the top three or four soloist in Southern Gospel Music.  This project is another good one and Ivan has a great selection of songs, great vocals and very god production from the Crossroads people.  My favorite songs from this project are "I Choose," "In The Middle Of My Everyday Life" and "It Is Well."  The entire project is awesome and Ivan has another winner on his hands!  For more information on Ivan, visit www.ivanparker.com.
