Someone asked me just the other day who I thought the top quartet was today.  I named a handful of quartets that I thought could fill that title and the second group I named was the Kingdom Heirs.  The group is very talented and their latest project is a tribute to the Statesmen and this project has twelve songs that are quite familiar.

"Move That Mountain" gets the entire project off to a rousing start and you will enjoy the quartet harmonies on this song.  "When My Master Walks With Me" is a beautiful song and the quartet harmonies on this particular song will thrill the purest.  "I've Got Something To Shout About" is another fine example of quartet singing.  One of my favorite songs from the Statesmen is "I Know He Heard My Prayer."  It is a great reminder of the power of prayer.

I am far too young to remember the original Statesmen Quartet but I have heard a number of their recordings and one song that always fascinated me was "Sea Walker."  Jeff Chapman does a fine job on the verse and the guys sing the song very well.  "On That Judgment Day" is another song showcases the great talents of this quartet.  "Let The Lower Lights Be Burning" is an old hymn that I was not even aware that the Statesmen ever sang!  However, the Kingdom Heirs do a great job on the song.  "I Know It Was Jesus" is a terrific song that you will really enjoy.

One of my all time favorite songs it "Hide Thou Me" and the Kingdom Heirs just blew me away with this great version.  Tenor, Billy Hodges, really shines on this great song.  "Nicodemus" is a catchy tune that you will enjoy a lot.  "Beyond The Gate" is a song that I have on an old Statesmen recording.  I really enjoyed hearing it again by the Kingdom Heirs.  The final song on the project is the fast paced and high energy, "Oh What A Time."

The Kingdom Heirs are one of the top groups in the industry.  They sing to a lot of people each year and they represent Southern Gospel Music very well.  It was great to hear them sing these great old Statesmen songs and it is a fitting tribute.  The project is well produced and has great performances from each member of the quartet.  My favorite songs from the project are "Hide Thou Me," "I Know He Heard My Prayer" and "I Know It Was Jesus."  The entire project and you will really enjoy one of today's great groups honoring one of yesterday's latest groups!  For more information visit www.kingdomheirs.com.
