This is our second project to review from Zandra Brown! I said in the first review that her music is not Southern Gospel but that her talent was too great to ignore and this project is much the same way.  Zandra’s new project has thirteen songs on it that are all written or co-written by Zandra and each one tells a personal story from her life.  Like all of us, Zandra has experienced ups and down in life and you can feel and hear the emotion in each of these songs.

The project gets off to a kickin’ start with the title song “It’s Your Life.”  This song is sure to become a quick favorite as it encourages to live life in spite of the circumstances of our life.  “Your Love Is Good” is the next song on the project and it an awesome song about the day that Zandra gave her life to Christ.  I think it conveys the message of what most of feel about that day in our life.  “Lies” picks up the pace once again and this fast song leads right into the slow tempo “I Refuse To Break.”  That song reminds us of the crazy pace that our life can have sometimes and how we need to refuse to break under that pressure!

“Only You Alone” is an awesome song that I really enjoyed.  It is written about God and only Him alone is our strength and peace forever.  “Missing You” is a personal song that Zandra wrote to her husband and it is an awesome song for anyone who is missing that special someone in their life.  The next song on the project is “If I Had One Wish” and it is a song that will be enjoyed by the listener.  “I’ll Pray For You” is the next song on the project and this song offers a unique perspective of praying for someone who has hurt you.  I love the song and we should all strive to do that!  Next on the project we find the song “Heaven Knows” and it is another great song.

“Let’s Straighten This Out” is a song that I really enjoyed.  It is about working out the situations in our lives and getting them straightened out!  The next song really slows things down again and “It’s A New Day” is an awesome song!  I love how this song talks about new beginnings and starting over.  I think we have all been there in life and can relate to this song!  The project ends with two outstanding songs!  “I’m In Love” and “Getting Over You” sound like exact opposites in songs but both songs have relevant messages!

Zandra has a way of delivering a song so that you can feel the emotion!  Of course, having written all of the songs on the project and having lived them, you would expect that each song means a great deal to her.  You can hear that in the songs and I for one really enjoyed this project.  Oh, there is no doubt this is not a Southern Gospel Project and a couple of the songs are not Gospel at all.  However, all of the songs on the project have relevant and good messages in them and you will enjoy them.  My favorite songs from the project are “Your Love Is Good,” “Only You Alone” and “It’s A New Day.”  If you enjoy stepping out of the Southern Gospel sounds every once in a while and listening to something with more of a contemporary or even pop feel to it, this is your project!  Zandra showcases her vocal abilities, her song writing skills and her abilities to deliver a very relevant message on this CD and I absolutely love it!  For more information on Zandra, visit her website at www.zandrabrown.com.
