Ashley DeRamus is an inspiration to every one she comes in contact with because she never gives up on achieving her goals. One of her many goals is to say the Pledge of Allegiance and sing the National Anthem on as many stages and as many different venues as possible. Part of the reason is her love for this country and another is to be an inspiration to others with Down Syndrome in showing them that they can achieve things that everyone would aspire to accomplish.
She sang the National Anthem on the main stage at the National Quartet Convention in front of thousands on September 11, 2013. She was joined on stage by the popular Southern Gospel group, The Dixie Melody Boys. She received a thunderous ovation at the conclusion of the song and plenty of hugs from the group and others at the convention.
