Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

I have reviewed several projects over the years recorded by the Talleys.  Some of them were the original Talleys, others the Talley Trio and even some solo projects from some of the various members of the group.  However, this is the first review I have ever done of a Talleys project that includes Brian Alvey, Lauren Talley’s husband and the newest member of the Talley family.  Of course, Brian is no stranger to Southern Gospel Music having sung with the Tribute Quartet and having written several songs, including some on this brand new project.

The Talleys sound has always had a progressive Southern Gospel Music sound and that has not changed.  The Talleys have also always been known for their incredible and sometimes complex harmonies.  The harmony of the group shines right away with “We Want To Thank You.”  What a beautiful song thanking God for His mercy and grace in our lives.  “Love Won” is the title of the project as well as the next song and this has a unique sound and feel but I certainly enjoyed the song.  The message is excellent as well too as it reminds us of that day when love won when Christ died and rose again!  Next on the project is a song titled “Make Way For The Master.”  This is a great reminded of how God can touch a life when He passes by and you reach out to Him.  “Broken World” was one of those songs I was pretty sure I was going to like.  I love this song and the message of how we won’t have to live in this broken world for much longer because this broken world is cradled by a Savior.

It has never been a secret that my favorite style of music is traditional, male quartet music.  While I love the trios, the mixed groups and the soloists, there is just something about good, male quartet music that blesses me and brings me hours of enjoyment.  The Old Paths is one of those male quartets and their recent project has already rendered several hours of enjoyment for me.  My formula for reviewing music is to listen to it a minimum of three times before writing a review.  I listen once on my mp3 player while exercising, once in the quiet of my home on my stereo system and once in my car.  This project has been in my car for a week straight and I listened to it at least a dozen times!  It is that good and let me tell you all about it!

The project begins with an upbeat song titled “Battle Stand.”  I believe this is a song written by Sandy Knight and it is a great one.  This song asked the question if we are ready for one more battle stand.  What a great thought that we will one day fight that final battle and go to Heaven to be with Jesus for all eternity.  The tempo slows but the message stays strong as The Old Paths sing “He’s My Song.”  This song relates to everyone living for Christ.  It reminds us that Christ is our song even when we don’t feel like going on.  “Woke Up This Morning” is a fantastic bass performance on a fast-paced song that reminds us that every day we wake up could be the day that Jesus comes back to take us to Heaven.  That is an exciting thought if you are a Christian.

This is the second recent project from Randy Simpson.  Randy is a soloist from Carlisle, PA and is greatly talented.  This project has ten great songs and you will enjoy each of them.  I have known Randy for quite a while now and Randy is one of my best friends in the Southern Gospel Music industry.  However, Randy is also a talented singer and this project will prove that over and over again.

The project begins with a classic Southern Gospel song titled “Step Into The Water.”  This song was recorded by the Cathedrals many years ago and Randy does a wonderful job on this classic song.  Another old Cathedral song is next and Randy does a fantastic job singing “Somebody Touched Me.”  The song is a great reminded of what Jesus’ touch can do in our life.  A great up-tempo song titled “Let’s All Go Down To The River” is next on the project and I love Randy’s version of this song.

It seems as though Country Music artists sing and even record Gospel Music on a pretty regular basis.  While these recordings often differ pretty significantly from Southern Gospel Music, many Southern Gospel Music fans do enjoy these recordings so we do review them on our website.  One of the latest Gospel projects from the world of Country Music is “Working On A Building.”  The best thing about this project is that the proceeds from this project are benefitting church building around the world.  Specifically, the proceeds will benefit the Mindanao Blessings International Philippines Orphanage Project.

The title song of the project is first and “Working On A Building” has been a favorite of mine for a while.  This version of the song was recorded by Marty Raybon, Trace Adkins, T. Graham Brown and Jimmy Fortune.  This quartet actually did a very good job on this great song.  Jimmy Fortune spent several years singing with the Statler Brothers and since that group’s retirement has launched a successful solo career in Gospel Music.  Jimmy sings “On The Other Side” next and I love this song about many of the things we can expect to find in Heaven.  Buddy Jewel is up next with “Power In The Blood.”  It is the old hymn of the church and it is a pretty good version of it!

One of the joys of being the owner of the Southern Gospel Music Forum for the past 14 years has been some of the great people I have met over those years and the long-lasting friendships that have been forged.  One of the first people I met after beginning my website was a soloist, from not too far from where I lived in Pennsylvania, named Randy Simpson.  Randy has been a talented soloist for several years and we recently received two brand new projects from Randy for review.

The first project we are reviewing is a project titled “Homesick.”  This project has a number of familiar songs that are sure to please listeners far and wide.  The first song on the project is the great hymn, “In The Garden.”  This song has always been one of my favorite hymns of the church as it talks about getting alone with God and talking with Him.  Randy does a fine job on this great, old song.  A Bill and Gloria Gaither classic is next with “I Just Feel Like Something Good Is About To Happen” and isn’t it great to know that even when we go through a trial, with Christ we know that there is something good for us right around the corner.  “There Is A River” is another of those classic songs in Southern Gospel Music.  I really enjoyed Randy’s version of this wonderful song.
