Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

I have been a fan of Valor III for a long time.  In fact, they were called the Tar Heel State when I first became acquainted with the group.  The group has again made a slight change to their name.  In the fall of 2011, Valor III added bass singer Ken Turner to the lineup and began calling the group Ken Turner and Valor III.  The group just released their first quartet project and it was well worth the wait!

The project begins with an old JD Sumner song titled “Where The Milk And Honey Flow.”  This wonderful song about Heaven is a great start to this project and features a fine quartet performance from Ken Turner and Valor III.  “Leave It There” is another familiar song and I enjoyed the message of leaving taking your burden to the Lord and leaving it there.  The next song on the project is a bass singer classic.  Ken Turner does a good job singing “How Big Is God” and it is always great to hear this classic song.  “Lonesome Road” is another classic song that features bass singers and I enjoyed Ken Turner and Valor III on this great song.

The Harris Family is a new artist to us here at the Southern Gospel Music Forum.  Since receive this project, I have listened to the project several times and I enjoy it very much.  The project has twelve songs and all of them will be enjoyed by the listener each time they listen.

“I Was Created To Worship the Lord” is the first song on the project as well as the title song for the project.  The song was written by Greater Vision’s Chris Allman and is a wonderful song of proclamation reminding us that we were created to worship our Lord and Savior.  “All Things New” was written by two of the group members and the song serves to remind us that Christ can take all of our guilt and shame and make everything new.  Things slow down with “Only You Can Wear The Crown.”  This is a beautiful song that looks ahead to what it might be like when we give our rewards in Heaven back to our Savior.  The tempo picks up once again as the Harris Family sings “Open Up the Sky.”  The song has a great message of waiting and receiving God’s blessings.

There are certain names that just come to mind when you start thinking about the great voices in Gospel Music history.  Certainly, one of the names on that list would be George Beverly Shea.  We recently received a project for review titled “The Ultimate Collection.”  This project includes twenty wonderful songs recorded over the years by George Beverly Shea.

The project starts out with “I Will Sing Of My Redeemer.”  This is one of the first songs I remember him singing and it was great to hear it again.  This is followed by one of my favorite hymns, “At Calvary.”  The Andre Crouch classic, “The Blood Will Never Lose Its Power” is next and I love this version of this great song.  “Almost Persuaded” is next and I had all but forgotten about this song!  I enjoyed hearing it again. “Bring Back The Springtime” is the next song.

We discover projects and music groups to review in a number of ways.  Through Hymn was the first group that we discovered through Facebook.  Brooklyn actually made the discovery but after we did a little research we discovered a very talented group and once the project arrived we were in no way disappointed.

The project begins with a song titled “God Came Down.”  The song reminds us that that God came down to this earth and dwelt amongst us to bring us grace!  I love that message and this song is a very good one.  “It’s Awaiting For Me” picks up the tempo just a bit and remarks of some of the great things that are waiting for us when we cross to the other side.  Next on the project we find a song titled “I’ll Praise the Lamb.”  This song is a wonderful song of praise and worship and the guys in Through Hymn do an outstanding job with this song.

I listen to all types and styles of music.  Southern Gospel Music is my favorite by far but of course, the umbrella that is Southern Gospel Music covers a wide variety of styles.  However, my favorite is, and always will be, male quartet music.  That is why I am always thrilled to find a brand new talented male quartet.  I found one in the Allegiance Quartet!

Their latest project starts out with a familiar quartet song featuring the bass singer.  The song is titled “Lord Do It Again” and the guys do a great job on this song and get the project off to a rousing start!  “Royal Blood” is the next song on the project and I do not recall ever hearing this song before.  The Allegiance Quartet gives a great performance on this song and it quickly became a favorite.  If you are a male quartet it is probably likely that you will sooner or later record a Cathedrals song.  The Allegiance Quartet picked a good one with “I Can See The Hand.”  Strong performances from bass singer, Shaun Stice and tenor singer, Daniel Bolton enhance this song and make it very enjoyable as we are reminded that we can see the Hand of God working in our lives.
