Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

For several years now I have heard of the Soul’d Out Quartet;  I have heard a few songs from the group through radio releases and their website but this is the first full project that I have been able to listen to and what a great way to become acquainted with this great male quartet.  Their brand new project is titled “What The World Doesn’t Know” and it contains ten songs that will prove the tremendous talent of these men.

The project begins with an upbeat song titled “All Things Are Possible.”  What a great song to start a project.  Not only is it a traditional sounding Southern Gospel song but it also has a very positive message reminding us that with God, all things are possible.  The song also showcases the quartet’s vocals and let you know right away that you are in for a quality project!  Things slow down on the next song but this beautiful song has a tremendous message that reminds us to go out and get the unsaved and tell them of Jesus’ Love and the life changing message that Jesus Saves!  “Since I’ve Been Saved” is an easy listening song that reminds me of some of the songs the Kingsmen and the Cathedrals recorded back in the 1970’s and 1980’s.  The song has terrific harmonies in it and reminds us of the many great changes in our life sing we have been saved.

Pennsylvania is the home to many Southern Gospel artists but very few of them share the same hometown as the Southern Gospel Music Forum.  Brothers In Grace is based in Lancaster, PA along with us and we are always happy to see a new project from these talented guys.  Their latest project is titled “Living In The Sonlight” and it includes eleven songs, all of which will be enjoyed by the listener.

“Stand And Praise The Lord” gets the project off to a rousing start.  This upbeat song is one of praise and, in fact, reminds us to stand and praise the Lord for His amazing Grace.  “That Very Moment” is an old song from Perfect Heart and I had not heard the song in several years.  It is a great version of this old favorite.  Next on the project is a rousing a cappella version of the great old hymn “Oh For A Thousand Tongues To Sing.”  I love this old hymn of praise and the a cappella arrangement is a very good one.  The project’s title song is next and “Living In The Sunlight” is another upbeat song that speaks of that day we move to Heaven.

This is our first opportunity to review a project from Kevin Harry.  We certainly hope that it is not our last!  Kevin’s latest project is titled “Hold On Today” and will certainly be a blessing to anyone who listens to it.  The project includes ten songs written by several of today’s top writers of Southern Gospel Music.

The project starts out with an upbeat tune titled “Mercy Lives.”  The song is a wonderful way to start a project proclaiming that mercy lives ever strong for every heart.  The up-tempo songs continue with “I Wanna Love Like That.”  This song lists a lot of qualities that we would, or at least should, want to have in our lives.  “Hope And Pray” is a song that I was pretty sure I was going to like from the title.  The song reminds us that we all need to hope and then pray about everything on our lives.  I don’t know any better way to say it and this song says it perfectly.

Becki and Megan Mayes is a new artist to us here at the Southern Gospel Music Forum.  This is their second release and is titled “Texas Gospel Classics.”  There are eight songs on this project, all of them familiar to most listeners.

The project begins with a medley of two familiar hymns.  “Are You Washed In The Blood” and “I’ll Fly Away” are the two songs and they are two songs that every Southern Gospel fan loves.  The timeless song “Amazing Grace” is next on the project and there is no greater song than this one about the amazing Grace of God.  “Come And Dine” might be a little less familiar to the listeners but it is still a hymn from many years ago.

I remember, several years ago, reviewing the very first nationally released project from a new group that was making some great inroads into the Southern Gospel Music industry.  The name of that group was the Crabb Family and they had a unique sound that very quickly caught on in the industry.  I reviewed many additional Crabb Family projects after that as the group rose to the top of Southern Gospel Music and turned out one hit song after another.  A few years later, the Crabb Family announced that were splitting into multiple ministries.  The Crabb Family became Aaron and Amanda Crabb, Crabb Revival, The Bowlings and Jason Crabb.  Each of these ministries have flourished but just recently it was announced that the Crabb Family was reuniting for a brand new recording!  The recording is appropriately titled “Together Again” and it is vintage Crabb Family music which is simply another way to say that the project is an incredible blessing!

The first song on the project is a great one to begin a project like this with.  It is titled “Back To The Front Porch” and reminisces about growing up and the wonderful memories of that.  I think anyone growing up in a Christian Home will appreciate the message of this project and the thought of going back to that symbolic front porch to talk with the Lord is a great one.  Many of those Crabb Family hit songs were written by their dad Gerald Crabb.  Gerald and Don Poythress wrote the next song titled “God Has A Plan.”  This message is great and I love the line that says “He doesn’t always tell us what He’s thinking. He just wants us to trust and hold His Hand.”  “You can’t Do That Anymore” is a wonderful, but sad song. It talks of many of the things we have done in the past and how this old world has changed.  Many of those freedoms are gone.  The song will certainly cause you to think and reminisce about the old days.
