Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

Last summer I had the opportunity to meet Declaration at a concert in Pennsylvania.  The CD they gave me for review that day was very good and it has received a lot of airplay at my house and around the SG Music Forum offices.  They also told me that day that they were working on a new project and I have been anticipating it since.  That project is here and it has been well worth the wait!

The guys begin the project with a Mosie Lister song titled “Come To The Water.”  I know a lot of Mosie’s songs but I must admit I don’t recognize this one.  It is a great song though reminding us that if you drink from that water that will never run dry you will never thirst again.  The next song on the project is a Southern Gospel classic.  “Too Near Home” has been recorded by the Goodmans and many, many others.  Declaration’s version of this classic song is very enjoyable.  A familiar Squire Parsons song is next as the guys sing “I Call It Home.”  I love this song that talks about Heaven, that place that all Christian’s call Home!

I have been following the singing career of Jason Crabb since I first heard of the Crabb Family in the mid to late 1990’s.  When I first heard Jason, I knew right away that he was a very talented vocalist.  Over the years he has grown into one of the top vocalists in any style of Gospel Music.  This project is a great collection of some of Gospel Music’s most classic songs and is one that must be added to your collection.

This live concert recording begins with “On The Battlefield.”  I absolutely love this old song that talks about being on the battlefield for our Lord!  Jason’s performance is great and this song is a wonderful start to this project and concert.  Next on the project is a medley of some of the great hymns of the church.  The medley includes “Leaning On The Everlasting Arms,” “The Meeting In the Air” and “I’ll Fly Away.”  “I’d Rather Have Jesus” has long been a favorite in Southern Gospel Music and Jason’s live version of this awesome song is absolutely inspired.  What a great song and great performance.  Most of the songs on this project I am very familiar with but “I’ll Take Jesus” is one that I really don’t know very well.  I love the song and the wonderful message of making the choice, the choice of Jesus!  Another classic song is next as Jason sings a rousing version of “Unclouded Day.”  A great version of an equally great song!

At Christmas time we received a brand new project from the Taylors.  The Christmas project was reviewed here on this website and was excellent in every way.  At the same time, the group also sent me their most recent Southern Gospel Music project.  The project was actually released in 2010 but since it is new to us, we wanted to give you a review of the project.

The project gets started, as any good Southern Gospel project should, with a great classic titled “Joybells.”  This song does a great job showcasing the Taylors vocal and harmonizing abilities.  It is an outstanding start to what I would soon realize is an outstanding project!  The title song of the project is next.  “Sing Me The Story” is a wonderful song about what Jesus did for us on Calvary.  I love the song and the message.  “What A Glorious Day” is next and this is another upbeat song that has more of those tight harmonies.  It is also talks about that glorious day that we will see Jesus Christ.  An Aaron Wilburn and Regie Hamm song is next.  “Triumphantly He Shall Return” is a song that I believe the Nelons recorded a few years ago but the Taylors arrangement and performance of that song is on that same level.

Artist: Vintage Quartet
Project Title: Tell The Story
Label: Crossroads
Producers: Unknown

Southern Gospel Music has very deep roots in male quartet music.  Southern Gospel music has a long history of great quartets, names like Stamps-Baxter Quartet, Vaughan Quartet, The Blackwood Brothers, The Statesmen, The Kingsmen, The Cathedrals and many others can be found in the history books that detail Southern Gospel and Male Quartet music.  The Vintage Quartet has released a new project on the Crossroads label that is carrying on the male quartet tradition in Southern Gospel Music.

The project starts off with a great quartet song titled “I’m Gonna Tell The Story.”  It showcased the quartet harmonies and it proclaims that we will tell the story of Jesus!  “I’ll Cast My Crown” is the next song on the project and it paints a beautiful picture of the day that all Christians will cast their crowns at Jesus’ feet.  “He’s Been So Good To Me” is one of those songs that sounds like an old quartet standard.  I am not familiar with the song but I love the quartet arrangement and the performance from the Vintage Quartet is very good.

One of the fun things of being the owner and editor of a website like this one is that you get to see groups change and grow.  We have reviewed a couple of previous CD’s by Crimson Stream and each CD they record seems to get better and better.  The latest effort from Crimson Stream is titled “Did I Mention” and it includes fourteen songs.

The project gets off to a great start with the old classic “The Old Gospel Ship.”  I love that great, old song that reminds us of that day we will take a trip on that old Gospel Ship!  The Bill and Gloria Gaither classic “I’m Free” is next and it is always great to be reminded that God has set us free from our sin.  A song that seems to have been recorded by everyone is next.  “Thank You Lord For Your Blessings” is the song and, of course, it does have a wonderful message.  A quartet standard is next as Crimson Stream tackles the old classic, “Jesus A Little Talk With Jesus.”  “Arms Of The Lord” is an original song written by William Smith and you will be blessed by the message of the song which reminds us that there is comfort, shelter, forgiveness, hope, peace, strength and victory in God’s Arms.
