Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

The Gaither Homecoming Recordings come in all shapes and sizes and over the years I have come to appreciate those various styles and settings.  “Tent Revival” is one of two recordings done in a giant tent setting at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC.  It features many of your favorite Homecoming artists and many of your favorite songs.

Several of the Homecoming Artists are features on the opening song, the ever popular “Yes I Know.”  They really go back and get an old-time song next as Ivan Parker and Woody Wright are features on “When The Saints Go Marching In.”  An Albert E. Brumley classic is next as “Jesus Hold My Hand” is handled masterfully by the Gaither Vocal Band and TaRanda Greene.  If you are familiar with the Homecoming Recordings at all you know that Bill Gaither has a way of putting people together and they manage to sound like they have been singing together for years!  Amber Thompson of the Nelons, TaRanda Greene and David Phelps are featured next on “I Stand Amazed.”  Several of the Homecoming Artists are featured next on “Down By The River To Pray.”

I personally love the Oak Ridge Boys and was thrilled to see them on this video singing “Lead Me To That Rock.”  It was a great performance.  Marshall Hall, Angela Primm and Jason Crabb are featured next on “Take My Hand Precious Hand.”  The upbeat “I’m So Glad” is next on the recording and Angela Primm does a fine job on this song.  One of my favorite songs from this recording is “I Don’t Want To Get Adjusted.”  This song features mostly Mitchell Jon who you may know from his days as a member of Three Bridges.  He gives a great performance on this song that simply says we don’t want to get adjusted to this world down here!  The beautiful, old song “The Ninety And Nine is next featuring Guy Penrod and The Nelons.

Marshall Hall is probably best known for his five year tenure as the baritone singer for the Gaither Vocal Band.  I came to appreciate the talents of Marshall Hall during that time and I am excited that he has developed a solo ministry.  His first solo project has just been released on the Daywind label and you will love this recording!

Marshall starts off the project with “Brighter One.”  This upbeat song will encourage you about the brighter day ahead in Jesus Christ!  “He Was” is a unique song that you really need to listen to in order to understand the full effect.  It is a very well-crafted song that has an awesome message.  The next song on the project is “When You Love.”  The song is all about our love for each other and the commitment that love means.

“The Old Rugged Cross,” the title of that great song along will conjure images of long ago and simpler times.  It is also the title of one of the latest Gaither Homecoming Records, one of the two recordings done at the Billy Graham Library in Charlotte, NC.  This recording was designed to honor the spirit and the music of the old-fashioned tent revivals of the 1950’s and 1960’s.  The usual Homecoming artists can be found on the recording along with many great songs!

“Life’s Railway To Heaven” is a popular song from the Homecoming Recordings and this particular version features Stephen Hill, Woody Wright, Joyce Martin Sanders and TaRanda Greene.  Several of the Homecoming Artists are featured next on “Tabernacle.”  “Heavenly Sunrise” is the next song on the recording and it features the Hoppers along with Reggie & Ladye Love Smith, Charlotte Ritchie and Gene McDonald.  The Gaither Vocal Band is always awesome and they are featured with the Gatlin Brothers on “Greatly Blessed, Highly Favored.”  I love that song and enjoyed hearing the writers (Bill Gaither and Larry Gatlin) involved in singing it.  The Gatlin Brothers stay up there and are featured in another of Larry Gatlin’s songs titled “Heartbreak Ridge And New Hope Road.”

“The Old Rugged Cross” is still one of the greatest and most beautiful songs ever written and sung and it just seems even better when Ben Speer is involved in singing it.  Jimmy Fortune, formerly of the Statler Brothers, is joined by Dailey and Vincent to sing his great single release from a few years ago titled “The Other Side Of The Cross.”  I am a huge fan of the Martins and their harmony is simply as close to perfection as you will find.  The Martins sing “Joshua Fit The Battle Of Jericho” next and it is an incredible arrangement and performance of that great old song that many of us grew up singing. “His Eye Is On The Sparrow” is one of the all-time great songs of encouragement and Larnell Harris has the perfect voice to sing it.  The Chuckwagon Gang goes a long way back and was one of my dad’s favorite groups.  I enjoyed hearing them sing “When He Calls I’ll Fly Away.”

I have to admit that when I first heard that Jonathan Wilburn was teaming up with his son, Jordan to form Wilburn and Wilburn, I wasn’t sure what to think or expect.  I know that Jonathan is a talented singer but there are not many duos in Southern Gospel Music.  I must admit that I was pleasantly surprised to hear them sing and this duo can definitely sing with the best of them.

“It’s A Shore Thing” gets this project off to a rousing start with an upbeat song.  It is a great start to the project and captures the listener’s attention right away.  “Jesus Will” is the next song and what a great message of hope in this song. It reminds the listener that there are many constants about Jesus that will never change.  The next song on the project is “Devil Be Gone.”  This upbeat song commands the devil to leave us along because the God we serve is greater.  “Mama” is the next song and I wasn’t sure what to expect with this song.  The song has a touching message of remembering to thank our mom for everything she has done for us.

David Phelps -- The Best Of David Phelps -- DVD PDF Print E-mail

Artist: David Phelps
Project Title: The Best Of David Phelps -- DVD
Label: Gaither Music Group
Producer: Bill Gaither

There is a long history of great voices in Southern Gospel Music over the years and one of the names that belongs on that list of great voices is David Phelps.  The tenor singer for the Gaither Vocal Band and sometimes solo artist has taken his place amongst the best in the business and Gaither Music recently produced a DVD of some of the great performances from David that have appeared on the Homecoming Recordings.  It is a great production and along with great performances from David we also get conversation between Bill and David that gives great insights to David and his life.

The DVD begins with “I’ll Fly Away,” the great song from many years ago and the start of many great performances on this recording.  Another great song from the past is “God Is Good All The Time” and this is featured next on the DVD.  I have always loved the message of that song and I enjoyed hearing David sing it once again.  David also sings some of the old hymns on this recording and you will enjoy “At The Cross” immensely.  One of David’s signature songs is next as he sings “End Of The Beginning.”  What a beautiful song and David delivers the song with his usual style.  This song was also written by David.

David sings “Searchin’” next and he pretty much set the stage on fire with that fast moving song!  “Nessun Dorma” is probably the most unique song you will hear on this recording.  It is done in a foreign language and it is a beautiful melody and recording.  David sings one of my all-time favorite songs next when he sings “Let Freedom Ring.”  This song has such a powerful message and David delivers it with such conviction and it will bless you every single time you hear David and the Gaither Vocal Band sing it.  Another song that David wrote is up next and this song was inspired by David’s father.  The title of the song is “My Child Is Coming Home” and while I had never heard this song I sure enjoyed the song and the great message of it.  There is a short list of standard tenor songs in Southern Gospel Music, you know, those songs that every tenor singer will sing at some time in their life, and “Hide Thou Me” is on that list.  David sings that song next and it is an outstanding version of that great song.
