Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

Artist: Mercy's Vessel
Project Title: He Paid The Price
Label: Independent
Producers: Mercy's Vessel

I spent quite a few years living in eastern Pennsylvania and I still have a special place in my heart for the Southern Gospel groups and artists in that area.  I never met Mercy’s Vessel when I lived down there but I have learned about them in the past few months and I have one of the projects here.  Even though the project has been out for quite a few years, I decided to review it here so that more of you could become acquainted with this trio.

The project begins with “A Wonderful Life.”  This song does a fantastic job of reminding us just what a wonderful life we have when we are serving Jesus.  “God Had A Hand In It” is next on the project and this song reminds us that God has a hand in everything that happens in our lives.  There are times in our lives when it seems like everything is closing in around us but “I’m Holding On” is a great song of encouragement when we face those circumstances.  I always love a good song about Heaven and Fawn Jacobs wrote a good one with “Sweet Blessed Land Of Beulah.”  The guys do a good job of singing it too!

I grew up a huge fan of Heaven Bound and I love to see artists of today record some of their music!  Mercy’s Vessel went back and got one of their best with “We Are Those Children.”  They do a nice job on this old classic.  Next on the project is one of the greatest songs ever written in my opinion.  “Jesus Died So I Won’t Have To” is the song.  Written by Rodney Griffin I have always loved the incredible message of Jesus’ love in dying for us that is in this song.  “The Night That I Got Saved” is a song that will likely make you reminisce about the time that you gave your heart over to Jesus Christ.  Bill Gaither wrote one of the great songs in Southern Gospel Music when he wrote “He Touched Me.”  The song remains one of my favorites and Mercy’s Vessel does a good job singing it.

Full Life Trio - Dusty Road

Artist: Full Life Trio
Project Title: Dusty Road
Label: Independent
Producers: Full Life trio

I have reviewed several projects from the Full Life Trio over the years and it seems that each one of them gets a little better than the previous one.  Debbie Davis, Becki Parker and Lea Parker make up the Full Life Trio and they have been singing for more than two decades.  Their latest effort is titled “Dusty Road” and it includes thirteen songs that will be enjoyed by many for years to come.

The project’s title cut leads off the project and “Dusty Road” is one of three songs on the project written by group member Debbie Davis.  It talks of the great journey that we take with God on this “dusty road.”  “Oh What A Way To Go” is an up-tempo song that talks about that moment that Christ comes back and calls us up to Heaven!  A phrase that my mom used to use all the time was “Blessing In Disguise.”  That is the title of the next song on the project and it reminds us to trust in God’s providence and His leading to make our trials a blessing.  “He Will Calm The Troubled Waters” is the title of the next song but it is also a great promise!  Jesus will always be there to calm the troubles and problems of our lives.

“Jubilee Morning” is another song from this project that celebrates that day that Jesus Christ comes back to call us Home.  Next on the project is a song that is written by Bernadette Negus, who lives about 20 miles from me in New York State.  The song is titled “For The Victory To Come.”  The song speaks of praising Jesus now for the victory to come!  What a blessed assurance that, as Christians, we can do just that!  The tempo picks up once again with “Come And Fight For Me.”  The song reminds us that we never must fight our battles alone, Jesus will always be there.  “Stand Your Ground” is a song that encourages us to stand our ground in Jesus Christ even amidst our enemies.  Next on the project we find a song that I grew up listening to the Imperials sing.  “Give Them All To Jesus” is a song encouraging the listener to give all of your problems to Jesus and it is still a great song and a favorite of mine.

Highroad - Somewhere I'm Going

Artist: Highroad
Project Title: Somewhere I'm Going
Label: Independent
Producers: Ben Isaacs

I have mentioned numerous times in these reviews just how much I enjoy receiving music from new groups.  I have a project from a group that is new to me called Highroad.  Their unique style is a mix between Southern Gospel, Christian Country and Bluegrass but the outcome of that mix is very pleasing to the listener!

The project begins with the classic song, “Sweet By And By.”  I have always love that great old song and Highroad has a beautiful version of it.  The title cut of the project is “Somewhere I’m Going.”  This is a heartfelt song that reminds us that home is not just somewhere we go but, as Christians, it is somewhere we are going.  I love that message!  Next on the project we find a song simply titled “Love.”  What a great song reminding the listener that Jesus Christ is love. I always love songs that tell a story and “Then On Sunday” sure fits that description.  It speaks of a woman searching for hope and then on Sunday she finds that hope in Jesus Christ.

“We Are Broken” is the next song on the project and it is true that we are all broken.  I love the chorus to this song that states “we are broken to be whole.”  The song is a beautiful message and a great reminder that even in our brokenness, God is making us more beautiful.  The next song on the project is titled “Shine.”  This song encourages each one of us to shine our light for Jesus!  It is something that this old world needs and this song reminds of that.  Now, I have to admit when I saw the title of the next song, I did a double take!  I have not seen many Gospel recordings with a song titled “Squirrel Hunter” on it.  I am not familiar with the song but the ladies of Highroad show their instrumental chops on this fun song to listen to!  The next song on the project is one of my all-time favorite songs!  The song is “I’d Rather Have Jesus” and Highroad gives an amazing performance on this great song.  The song has a beautiful message and melody and this version is a great one.

Hoppers - Life Is Good

Artist: Hoppers
Project Title: Life Is Good
Label: Daywind
Producers: Lari Goss, Michael Sykes, Michael Hopper, Kim Hopper

It seems as if it has been a while since we reviewed anything new from the Hoppers on our website.  Of course, the group is well known in Southern Gospel Music and they have a giant fan base.  This project is one that will make all of the Hopper’s fans very happy and make even get then a few new ones!

The project begins with “Jesus The One.”  The song is an upbeat song that does an excellent job of reminding us who Jesus is!  The title song of the project is next and this song really gets up and goes.  “Life Is Good” is a proclamation that life is good because we belong to God and we surely cannot argue with that!  I love songs about God’s Grace and the next song on this project is titled “Grace Will Get To You.”  What a beautiful message in this song reminding that God’s Grace will get to you when you need it.  I love the next song titled “Walk Two.”  It reminds the listener that, as the Bible says, if we are asked to walk a mile, walk two.  It is a wonderful reminder that we should always be looking for opportunities to help our brother or sister in Christ.

“Brethren We Have Met To Worship” is an outstanding, old-time hymn that the Hoppers have put a nice arrangement on.  The next song picks up the tempo once again.  The message of “If We Ever Gotta Look” is simply that if we could get a look of what Heaven is like while we are down here, we would not want to stay down here.  I am not sure I have ever heard that message in a song before but this song is a good one! “Until You’ve Known The Love Of The Lord” is a great Rusty Goodman song with a beautiful message about the Love of God.  The Hoppers have a good arrangement of the song and you will enjoy it.

Millers - Glad

Artist: Millers
Project Title: Glad
Label: Independent
Producers: Joey Wilson

It is an interesting world we live in! Not that many years ago there was no such term as Social Media. Nowadays we have Facebook, Twitter and a host of other online communities to be a part of. It was in this realm that I met and befriended Randy and Becky Miller. Over the course of time they have become great supporters of my ministries and I am very appreciative of their friendship! Randy and Becky are also one half of the singing group, The Millers. The other members are Renee Settles and Randy Simpson, a man that became a friend long before social media and who recently released a new solo project that we reviewed here. The Millers have also recently released a brand new project titled “Glad” and it is another great effort from this talented group.

The title song leads off the project and “I’m Glad” is an up tempo song that will get your toe tapping right out of the gate! The song talks about how glad we are to have Jesus in our lives and all of the wondrous things He does for His Children. Next on the project is “Find Out What God Is Doing.” This is a song of revival and there is no doubt we could use a little bit of that in our lives! A beautiful song about Heaven is next. The song is titled “That Sounds Like Home To Me” and the song talks about all of the wonderful things and sights in Heaven and there is no doubt that it surely does sound like Home to me. Another song about Heaven is next and it is the old church hymn, “When We All Get To Heaven.” That has long been a favorite hymn of mine and I love the Millers version of it.
