Final Harvest
Final Harvest is a ladies trio based in Rochester, NY and they still have dates available for 2017!!!! The message of Final Harvest: God will send to His Church an unquenchable fire. The wind of the Holy Spirit will cause it to burn hotter than on the day of Pentecost, and spread rapidly. It will spread with fury and devour all that is not holy. Then He will send the latter rain, wash away the dross, refresh and make new. The Glory of the Lord will be seen by the entire world and manifested through His Church. There begins the end time harvest.

Artist Name: Ricky Atkinson and Compassion
Project Title: Favorites Volume 1
Label: Resting Place Music
Producers: Ricky Atkinson

If you ever want to be sure to get your project reviewed on this website, just record a bunch of classic songs … and record them well!  Of course, I am kidding, we are happy to review any good Southern Gospel Music on our website however I have always had a special place in my heart for the old, classic songs and Ricky Atkinson and Compassion just released a brand new project with ten classic Southern Gospel songs on it.  Appropriately titled “Favorites Volume 1,” this project has some exceptional performances on some exceptional songs.

The project starts out with an upbeat song that most everyone will know.  It is titled “Oh I Want To See Him” and it is one of the great, classic songs about Heaven!  I know I cannot wait until the day that I see Christ in Heaven and I am sure that you cannot either!  Next on the project we find a song titled “Always Enough.”  I have always enjoyed this song that reminds that there is always enough of God’s Mercy and Grace to cover all of our sins.  What a great reminder and message as we deal with the long and rough road of life.  I have always loved the second verse of this song and have lived that one a time or two in my life!  “New Shoes” is the next song on the project and this upbeat song is an amazing song about that day we move on up to Heaven!

The next song on the project is a beautiful melody titled “I Have Not Forgotten.” I must say that I was not real familiar with this song but it is a great one!  I don’t know how a Christian could ever forget the amazing things that Jesus Christ did for them on the Cross and how He saved us!  One of the great up-tempo songs to come out in the past few years is “I Believe It All.”  I love this song and I love Ricky Atkinson and Compassion’s version of this amazing song!  Yes, it is true … I believe every single thing in God’s Word, I believe it ALL! It seems like I have heard several new versions of “I Know A Man Who Can” in the past couple of years.  I remember the original version by the Cathedrals that featured Kirk Talley as well.  The version on this recording is every bit as good as any other version I have ever heard.  I also love that message that God can and will help you no matter what your circumstances are in life.  One of the all-time great Southern Gospel songs is “My God Is Real.”  I was thrilled to see the song on this project and I absolutely love this version by Ricky Atkinson and Compassion!

Artist: Full Life Trio
Project Title: Grace
Label: Independent
Producers: John Darin Rowsey

It has been our privilege to review other projects by the Full Life Trio and we are honored to have their latest one to review as well!  Their latest project is titled after one of the greatest gifts that God gives to His Children, “Grace,”  This project has fourteen wonderful songs, all of which will be enjoyed by the listener and will bless the listener many, many time.

The project begins with the great Carroll McGruder song, “I’m Going With Jesus.”  This upbeat song has been around Southern Gospel Music for a while and any song that talks about going to Heaven is a good one and this song is one of the best I have ever heard on that subject!  Group member Debbie Davis wrote several songs for this project including the next one titled “Child Like Faith.”  The song reminds us of the power of faith and how we need to come to Christ with child-like faith!  “Because Of Grace,” also written by Debbie, is a beautiful song about the Grace of God.  What a beautiful message in this song that speaks of God’s grace, mercy and love.  The timeless classic “How Great Thou Art” is next.  I never tire of hearing this song and enjoyed this version by Full Life Trio.  A great Kenny Hinson song is next as the ladies of Full Life Trio tackle “By The Time They Find Me Missing.”

“I’ll Be So Glad” is the next song on the project and what a wonderful song about that day that Jesus calls us Home to Heaven.  Next on the project is a song titled “Only Jesus” and this beautiful song does a great job reminding us that it is only Jesus that can satisfy that longing in our heart.  Such a true message and such a beautiful song to deliver that message.  Another song about Heaven is next with “In That Land.”  It is another good song that the listener will enjoy.  “Watch Therefore” is an upbeat song reminding us to always be watching for Christ to return and to make certain that we are ready for His return!

Signature Sound - Glorious Day

Artist: Ernie Haase and Signature Sound
Project Title: Glorious Day
Label: StowTown Records
Producers: Wayne Haun

Southern Gospel Music has many great groups travelling and singing today but probably one of the more well-known groups travelling today is Ernie Haase and Signature Sound.  This very talented quartet recently came out with a brand new project titled “Glorious Day.”  This project has eleven songs on it and they are all very good and will be enjoyed by all who hear it.

One thing I always love about an Ernie Haase and Signature Sound project is that they are never afraid to go back and record an old song!  The group starts off with “When The Saints Go Marching In.”  It is a lively version of that song that you will enjoy.  The next song is credited to Bill Gaither as the writer but it is a song that I am not familiar with.  “When Jesus Breaks The Morning” is the title and it is a great quartet song and the guys deliver a wonderful performance on it.  “That’s Why” was written by Ernie Haase and Joel Lindsey.  What a wonderful song about the reasons that we love our Lord Jesus Christ.  The next song on the project is titled “Scars In The Hands Of Jesus” and I love the beautiful lyric in this song penned by Marjohn Wilkin.  What a great message that reminds us that the only thing in Heaven that was made by man are the scars in the Hand of Jesus.

“Shh, Be Still” is a rather unusual title for a song but this song has a great feel to it and an even better message.  The song reminds us to be still and allow God to have His place!  What an amazing feeling it is to be still before God and allow Him to bless us!  The next song on the project is simply jamming!  The song is titled “Water Walking God” and as you might expect it talks of the Bible Story when Jesus walked on the water but the message is set to a an awesome melody and Signature Sound shows off their male quartet skills on this song.  It only seems fitting that a classic quartet song is next and the Signature Sound version of “Noah Found Grace In The Eyes Of The Lord” is simply awesome!  I wonder every time I hear this song how in the world they get all of those words in there!  Well, I do not know how they did it, but they did and it is great!

Mercy's Well - Worship

Artist: Mercy's Well
Project Worship: Modern Hymns For Every Generation
Label: Independent
Producers: Donna Beauvais-King

Ten amazing songs are contained on this project by Mercy's Well.  With just a light piano accompaniment, the voices provide the music in this project.  What awesome voices too!  Three men totally souled out for the Lord sing in a very tight harmony.  The first song “Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing)” is a beautiful song describing the multiple facets of God’s Love.  It is sufficient to carry us when times are rough.  It is also God’s love that makes us sing, especially, singing praises unto HIM!

“Holy” is the next song. To call it a song, is a misnomer.  It is a medley, and a beautiful one at that.  The medley starts off with the traditional hymn “Holy, Holy, Holy.”  However, never sung this majestically before (that is heard by this reviewer!)  Then a more modern song talking about the Holy Spirit is welcome “in this place.”  The last of the medley is the traditional hymn “Holy Ground.”  Wow!  What a fantastic medley sung in a very tight harmony and a awesome message to go with it.

“Blessed Be Your Name” is song number 3 on Mercy Well’s project.  With a strong string instrumental accompaniment, this song reminds me of a folk song with the clear focus on the Lord.  It reminds us how Blessed the Lord’s name is, and not just Blessed which translated means “happy” but the Lord’s name is Holy and not to be taken lightly or in vain.  Wonderful song featuring solo and three part harmony work.

Artist: Ricky Atkinson and Compassion
Project Title: I Know He Can
Label: Resting Place Music
Producers: Ricky Atkinson and Compassion

The name Ricky Atkinson is well known around Southern Gospel Music.  As one of this eras most prolific songwriters, Ricky’s songs have been a part of many successful projects.  Of course, for more than a decade now Ricky has been singing with Ricky Atkinson and Compassion.  Their latest national release is titled “I Know He Can” and it is a wonderful collection of music form this talented male trio!

The project begins with a song that has a distinct country sound to it!  “Here For Now” is the title of the song and this song reminds the listener that we might be on this earth right now but we will not be here for very long!  The tempo picks up with “I Know He Can” and this upbeat song has an equally upbeat message!  It reminds us that we know that God can perform many miracles and He will give us exactly what we need in life.  “Waving On The Other Side” is a beautiful song and as someone who has a number of loved ones in Heaven, I really appreciated this song.  It paints a picture of those who have gone on before us waving to us from the other side, encouraging us Christians to continue on!

There have been numerous songs in Southern Gospel Music titled “Get On Board” and this one right here is a great one!  The song features one of today’s premier bass singers, Gene McDonald to make the group a male quartet.  They sound great and the message is also wonderful as we think about the way God made for us to get on board and sail towards Heaven.  Once again the tempo slows down with “He Went All The Way For You.”  This song has a terrific message as it reminds us that He did go all the way in His life for us.  He was born, was crucified, was buried and He rose again!  What a wonderful message in a song!  The latest radio single from the project is “Good News” and this upbeat song reminds us of the good news that we can find in Jesus Christ and that all of the good news we need can be found in the Bible.  “Love Mercy And Grace” is a song that is an amazing reminder of the love, mercy and grace that our Savior bestows on His Children.
